your abnormal alt can be due to:
other cause than hbv infection
occult hbv infection, hbsag escape mutant hbv, biopsy would be the best to understand what you have
check for these by an expert doctor
Hi Stefano,
I hat ALT/AST results and Hep B test results from 2007 and 2008. Based on these results and based on recent results, what can you comment ?
As I understand in 2007, I was already immune to Hep B. Is that mean I am immune now ? or I am chronically infected Hep B? I am very healthy man. I don't smoke or drink.
1. Liver enzyem level : AST/ALT Level
(2008.5.16 AST/ALT : 61/162(normal range 15-40/10-40), r-GTP : 60(normal range 2-30)
2007.5.14 AST/ALT : 24/23)
2.Hepatitis B test results (2008.5.16 HBs Ag : nagative, HBs Ab : positive(titer: 64.46)
2007.5.12 HBs Ag : nagative, HBs Ab : positive(titer: 59.93))
i am very sorry i didn t notice it is 29X10E5, are you sure it is elevated 5?
what bad labs they are very confusing, in the labs here they must write the number...anyway why to say less than 29X10E5 and not say the number, it all sounds messy to me too
can you email me all lab reports to the email i sent you?all the lab reports scanned?
Stefabo Thank you very much.
You are easing my pain.
I am confused with this number 29^5, normally 29^5 = very large number. It is power of 5 to 29. It is very very large number.
So people report only 29 or 29^5 ? So, do you think 29^d is lower ?
I have HBV as IU/ml^4 < 29^5, HBV as Copies/mL <168^5.
this is hbvdna, replication not virus, and it says it is lower than 29iu/ml it doesn t say detected.20iu/ml is not good sensitivity at all, just to be 100% secure you might check with sensitivity 1-10iu/ml, newest hbvdna pcr.but it is normal to have hbvdna between 1 and 10 iu/ml if you just cleared hbv, only a rare case of occult hbv can have hbvdna between 1-10iu/ml after years from hbsab positive
Can I transfer the virus to my partner or not ?
he must be vaccinated anyway even if you don t transmit, if you just cleared the virus you are infectious by blood and as said above your blood will never be accepted for donations since some virus can stay forever in the blood although not harmful for you, it is like herpes virus when immune system gets down you can have some residual virus in the blood but this makes no damage (herpes and hbv are sama family)
They also tested Hep C that is negative.
I have vaccinated for Hep B.
Thank you stefano,
I am confusing because one test says Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Non-Rective and other viral test says I have HBV as IU/ml^4 < 29^5, HBV as Copies/mL <168^5.
I took the first test at San Diego Community Health Center and other test at some lab I don't know. My Doctor ordered.
Please Stefano, can you clerify your answer ? Can I transfer the virus to my partner or not ? That is main thing I am worried.
You mentioned "as long as Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Non-Rective you dont have or cleared the virus, you are not contagious" and you also said "hbv is not dangeours especially acute hbv once you know you have it, just wait 6 motnhs to clear the virus and make vaccine to anybody in close contact with you since with high hbvdna can spread with saliva too".
These two sentences are opposite of each other.
Please tell me about these "HBV as IU/ml^4 < 29^5, HBV as Copies/mL <168^5." results ?
What does these mean ?
AST/SGOT: 92 H
ALT/SGPT: 220 H
this might be from many other hepatitis viruses, from other viruses and many conditions not related to liver, go to a specialist and make full hbv markers with all anitgents and all antibodies to be sure hbv has been cleared and it is not hbv
also check for all other hepatitis viruses A, C , E
acute hepatits has alt 1000-5000 in the higest pick, 220 is not high on acute
hbv is not dangeours especially acute hbv once you know you have it, just wait 6 motnhs to clear the virus and make vaccine to anybody in close contact with you since with high hbvdna can spread with saliva too

what is dangerous is living all your life with it not knowing if cronic, acute is cleared 90%
-Hepatitis B Core AB Total Reactive
-Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Non-Rective
where did you go to test, that people doesn t know how to test hbv or wants to save money by minimum tests, on helth pages you have all the tests required
as long as Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Non-Rective you dont have or cleared the virus, you are not contagious, only blood might be
