Hepatitis

I am a 26 year old male having hbsag and hbeag=+ve,hbv dna =1070 iu/ml(Taqman) but my LFT results are normal(sgpt=37,sgot=33).My doctor has asked me to take lamivudine 100 mg for 6 months or until it becomes -ve.My mom is taking lamivudine for the last 7 months after her hbv dna crossed 8 lacs iu/ml.Probably I have been infected from my birth. Is it possible for both of us to completely cure Hep. B after taking lamivudine.

By the way what is your HBV DNA count before and after treatment? What medicine did you take, for how many months?Has your hbv dna become negative?

She is 55 yrs old.Yeah 7 months ago, her sgpt/sgot were 100 but after taking lamivudine, udiliv 300(for 2 months) the levels have dropped down to 45-50.
I am taking lamivudine for the last 1 month,my LFT results were in the normal range(sgpt/sgot=37 and 33).

Actually some years ago she had hbsag=+ve,hbeag=-ve that's why she was not prescribed for any medicine by a haematologist. But now we have consulted another haematologist because suddenly her platelet count started dropping down and sgpt/sgot levels rising up.This doctor asked her to test for hbv dna which came out to be 8 lacs IU/ml.So he prescribed lamivudine(heitec 100 mg) and it has been 7 months she has been under this treatment.Currently the sgpt/sgot levels have come down after taking udiliv, the platelet cnt. hasn't improved so much but the doctor has prescribed several medicines to counter it.The hbeag and hbv dna has not been performed within these 7 months.
I was first tested for hep. B when I was 12 yrs old,at that time I had hbsag & hbeag =+ve.HBV DNA qualitative report stated my viral count to be very low that's why I was not prescribed for any medicine at that time.

by the way change doctor right away and if possible sue him for the damage due to using useless lamivudine

start tenofovir as soon as possible because it is the only antiviral which works on lam resistance and check all old forum posts to understand how this doctor can be a killer of patients, an hbsag mutation induced by lamivudine and adefovir is directly cytophatic, it means it damages the liver from inside the cells even if hbvdna is undetactable and ast/alt normal and it has a very high rate of liver cancer development....it is not a nice thing to play with patients life with useless and only damaging out of guidelines drugs
