normal level for men is alt below 30, ast not important but also lower than 30

hbvdna pcr is the most useful test

alt 42 with low hbvdna is not a big deal, don t worry, i also have alt between 31 and 42 with hbvdna undetactable on entecavir+ntz therapy and regression of cirrhosis

you have to worry only if alt makes flare to 80 or higher and if hbvdna gets higher than 2000iu/ml (mutiply for 5.8 for copies/ml)

Thanks. But my HBV DNA is 20,682 copies/ml which is about 3,565 iu/ml, which is higher than 2000. I ahve done another one yesterday and expecting result.

just a little higher than normal is not a big issue, anyway i'd suggest to try 1 year of nitazoxanide and see how it goes with hbvdna and hbsag

it is off lebel so not possible to be prescribed by most of the doctors and probably not marketed in nigeria

My latest HBV DNA is 15000 copies/ml(about 2600 IU) and ALT 37. Any comment on that pls?

it doesn t mean anything the first thing is liver damage which correlates poorly with alt/hbvdna, once you know your liver damage it can be useful to consider therapy in case of damage more than f2

if there is no damage or damage f1 there is no need to worry or start therapy, as a minimum if you want to take a drug you might try alinia (nitazoxanide) since it has no sides and see if it lowers hbvdna and hbsag
