Just got diagnosed with Hep B

Hello,
27 years old here. Just got my hep b panel test results today, I don’t think I ever got tested positive for the antigen before in my life (and I got tested few times before).
I also believe I got vaccinated for it when I was in elemantry school.

Test Name
HEPATITIS PANEL, ACUTE W/ REFLEX TO CONFIRMATION

HEPATITIS A IGM NON-REACTIVE

HEPATITIS B SURFACE
ANTIGEN W/ REFL CONFIRM
HEPATITIS B SURFACE
ANTIGEN REACTIVE

HEPATITIS B CORE ANTIBODY
ANTIBODY (IGM) NON-REACTIVE

HEPATATIS C ANTIBODY NON-REACTIVE
SIGNAL TO CUT-OFF 0.07

AST         18                        Fasting reference range 10-30 U/L
ALT         19                        Fasting reference range 6-29 U/L

Does this test means I’m hep b positive? Is there a way to tell if it’s acute or chronic condition (What additional tests should I ask my doc to take)? Also, if I did contract it, how is that possible if I got a vaccination for it.

Also, am I sexually contagious right now? Or is it only when you become chronic that you become hep b contagious?

Thanks a lot for your help!

P.S.

Some more  abnormal results in that same blood test (04/21/15):
PROTEIN, TOTAL    8.7  H    Fasting reference internal     6.1-8.1  g/dL

HEPATITIS B CORE AB TOTAL REACTIVE
PENDING TEST: HEPATITIS B SURFACE ANTIBODY (QUANT)

I have been already disagnosed with low vitamin D levels back in October 2014... I've been taking supplement:
Nature's Boundy High Potency D3-1000 IU one softgel a day... but it seems like the vitamin d levels remained low... does that mean I need to take a higher dose or could it indicate a liver damage? I had a liver ultrasound - everything looks normal... Should I get Fibrosan? The PCP said to take 2000IU a day instead, would that be enough? Also, could someone advise what additional tests I should get, I got a GI appt tomorrow, and also can you tell what phase I am based on the results above? Thanks again!

yes, 10.000iu pills of d3 are available from many other brands too, those are the good ones i know (biotech is 5000iu pills or 50.000iu pills), check online iherb or many other websites

vitd suppresses pth, if this doesn t happen there is resistance in receptors and vit d does not reach tissues

Also, is there a chance to serovoncert, by fixing the vitamin D/intact pth markers? If not, then what is the the benefit of doing so?

check older posts for this

Also, can it actually cause harm to my kindey's or any other adverse effects I should be aware of?

no it is the opposite, with your low vit d liver makes fibrosis simpli from low vit d, not hbv
kidneys work 50% less if low d

10.000iu is not a high dose but when you reach target vitd25oh and target pth you may need to lower dose and find balance to keep levels

Thanks for your input.
When you say "the doses are 10.000iu daily of good d3 (healthy origins, nowfoods, puritans, biotech)", do you mean to buy vitamin D3 with doses of 10,000iu a pill made by one of these companies: healthy origins, nowfoods, puritans, biotech? Could you please give a link where I can order them online or do you know which store usually carry them? I'm in the US.
Also, if I understand what you say, ideally I should bring my Vitamin D level to the upper limit, and the intact pth needs to be brought to the lower limit - but the question what does bring the intact pth to the lower limit assuming I got it somewhere mid-range? Is  there another vitamin intake for that?

Also, is there a chance to serovoncert, by fixing the vitamin D/intact pth markers? If not, then what is the the benefit of doing so? Also, can it actually cause harm to my kindey's or any other adverse effects I should be aware of? I also found an article that says that there is an inverse relation between the antigen and vitamin d for hep b, does that mean if I will fix that, the benefit is to reduce the hbsag quant in ui/ml? please advise.

the most important tests are hbsag quant, hbvdna quant and fibroscan for therapy choice

recheck but ensure labs has abbott architect or roches elecsys, there are many obsolete machines around in some countries.test:

hbsag quantity in iu/ml (not qualitative test like in previous tests)
hbcab igg and igm
hbeag
hbeab
hbvdna

if confirmed hbv is there, add fibroscan and hbv genotype.the most important test is hbsag quant, hbvdna quant for therapy choice

first of all the dose you take is useless (high potency...fraud), you ll get more drinking water...which has no vit d.the doses are 10.000iu daily of good d3 (healthy origins, nowfoods, puritans, biotech)

to know if you are vit d sufficient vitd25oh alone is not enough, it can only confirm deficiency, you need to test intact pth at the same time and have it in the lowest range of normal as vitd25oh gets to 100ng/ml (to have an effect on immune system you must get it to highest normal 100ng/ml which can be useless as well if pth doesn t get to lowest normal).check older posts about vit d and pth
