HBsAg

12days old newborn with HBsAg positive. mother is also positive for hepatitis B surface antigen. what should be the management strategy.

i don't believe in 2010 there is no check for hbv on mothers

nothing to do now too late, you have to monitor hbv status and start tx as doctors say when and if there will be liver damage.usually there is no damage on babies for decades (immune tollerant state) and no chance to clear virus

i guess if you are in Us or europe you can sue hospital and doctors because they didn't check hbv on mother and made vaccine on the baby at birth.

the same thing happened to me but it was 1969....started tx at 40yo because there was no serious liver damage until now
