HBV Clearance Data - HsAg lost

Natural Immunity - ~1%
Tenofovir - ~3-5%
Peginterferon alfa-2a - 3% 1st yr, 6% 2nd year, 8% 3rd year, 11% 4th year after 1 year course.
Entecavir - 0%
LDV - ??
ADV - ??
Combo - ???

Depressingly low success rate, look like we need a completely new & better way of treating this monster -something to clear viral cccDNA & enhance immune + antiviral might give us chance. Otherwise, w/ antiviral alone this will continue to be a no cure scenario....maybe NUC B1000 or cloned genetic or stem cell! Any comments?

"It is what it is."

Couldn't agree more.  That's why it's best to hold expectations in check.  Life continues...enjoy it.

I have to admit that I've never chased the idea of a cure.  I won't be finding one myself and I don't think it will be a priority for medicine given the fact that there is a vaccine.  Economically, it doesn't make sense to pour a lot of money chasing a cure for a disease that there's a chance could be eradicated  in 2 or 3 generations.  I suppose this might be a depressing thought but I'm pretty neutral about it, actually.  It is what it is.

My thoughts are that a cure, if found, would be found by way of researching some other virus.  HIV or HCV, perhaps, where vaccines are not available.

My focus is on treatment and battling resistance.

The percentages are low.  Hopefully future new medications or new types of treatment will change that.  There is always a future and the percentages can only go up.
