Safety of Children
well, ofcourse my two kids are vaccinatged at birth. i did not even recheck to see how much antibodies they've got and whether it worked or not. i didnt think there was a chance it didnt work til sometime ago with another thread on here discussing possible infection of babies. i think it was Jim ( cajim) that had some concerns in that regards.
anyway, DONT ASK ME HOW WHY WHERE WHAT- my two year old boy yesterday wanted to be like daddy. so he sneaks into the bathroom and try to shave - AGAIN its cute i thought but i also thought i wanted to #$#@$%%^^^%$#@#@#@ . i couldnt believe it when my wife told me.
thing is he opened 3 very tiny cuts in his lower lip...something that looks like someone poked him with a needle so it not the typical cut a razor blade would cause but a poke kind of.
anyway, had the wife clean his lip really well and with alcohol etc....
common sense says he is fine as it wasnt something major . also i do clean my razor pretty ok after shaving but a worry is a worry and i cant help it.
called his pediatritionist clinic today and asked i can come in to make sure his antibodies are good from back when he completed the vaccine.. they insisted i didnt have to do that and that he is fine and is immuned and wont be effected.
ok so my guru bodies, any thoughts ?

just got off the phone with the doctor.. he said they were fine. they are immuned and records say the darn thing worked. asked about my state with HBV at the time and kinda eased up on the whole thing when he knew i was UND and almost inactive with hbeag negative.
honeslty when i found out i had the virus we just checked to see if the wife was clear and thank God she was. but i took it for granted to not check the two babies since they got vaccinated at birth and completed the shots before they turned 6 months old.
will still check them out next time they draw blood.
steveeeeeeeeeeeeee, you made it seem i am torturing the litlte boy.. though for a 2 year old he does a lot more to deserve worse punishment .. little dare devil macho man wanna be :-)

Please be prepared that your child may NOT show immunity but will still very likely be immune. If you do not do the titers within about one month they are not accurate. cajim and I both have experience with this.
My kids did not come up immune when we did the test years later (at the insistence of the Dept of Health). But they were surface antigen negative and we repeated the series and they are fine. They had way more vaccine than I wanted them to have but...

But you should check to confirm your close contact family members for their immunity status so you don't panic when something like this happens. And it WILL happen again. And you will #$#@$%%^^^%$#@#@#@ every time it happens. Confirm immunity to ease your own mind. You don't have to do it right away, next time when they need to draw blood for any reason, ask the doctor to include the "s" antibody check. 2 birds, 1 stone.
