do I need treatment now?

I recently got blood test and it said I had Hepatitis B, the doctor gave me a vaccine shot for Hepatitis A but during the blood test I was on antibotics for 2 weeks for a throat infection, so when I got my results: (I'm 29, Male, Asian)

AST 27
ALT 48 (Doctor said it was sort of high)
HBV DNA 472,000,000 < 100 IU/mL (I think this is very high)

should I wait a month and take another blood test with normal conditions or start taking Viread like the doctor suggested?

I talked to her, she said I can wait 30 days until another blood test to see if any changes occur before I start taking Viread. I'm pretty sure the elevated levels were cause by the antibotics/hep A vaccine that I took.

LOL. OK. This is still bad, but not scary bad.

In any case, if you want to delay taking meds, talk to your doc about it.

My doctor told me it's about 2 million, I'm not sure how this lab or my doctor does the calculations or if I misheard him.

Well... blood tests cover most of it. You saw the list of things covered by blood tests in the first link I sent you.
People also get ultrasonograms (which I too have) and liver biopsies (which I haven't).

Your VL (472,000,000 IU/ml) is dangerous to leave unattended. I did not understand the <100 part. These readings are among the highest I have come across on this form. But then, I have only been here for a few months. I am not sure if it is immediately dangerous or not. If you have symptoms from your HepB, then maybe it is! Please check this with your doc. Get another opinion from a good gastroenterologist other than your current doc, if you want to be sure.

There are no alternatives to bring VL down -- just medication. You saw the list of common medicines on the first link.

What sort of test are there besides a blood test? If my VL is high, what alternatives like exercising and eating right do to bring it down? Also, at my current VL, is it dangerous to leave it unattended?

Other info? http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Hepatitis/HepB-Research-Info/show/939?cid=153 .  But I don't recommend reading this if you are new to Hep B. The textbook is still good to start with.

Fatigue? Did the doc say why exactly? Sure, Hep B can cause fatigue, but so can so many other things. You probably have to get several tests done to be sure. For HepB too, I recommend getting a whole battery of tests done -- even if it is not needed for deciding on therapy: this way, one will have a few test results for one's baseline status.

oh, thank you for the links, very helpful. Any other links for hepatitis b is appericated. The lab results say

AST 27 Range 10-40
ALT 48 Range 9-60

so, I'm in normal parameters of the lab test but recently I've been extremely fatigued for no reason. I was wondering if this was a reactivation of the hepatitis symptoms from the antibotics cause I never felt like this before?

The viral load (HBV DNA) is definitely very high. ALT? Not sure: in some places where I got this test done, this is within what is called "normal". It varies from lab to lab. Check the reference range for your lab.

In the mean time, I hope you have read this: http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Hepatitis/HepB-Introduction--Welcome-Page/show/34?cid=153
