Hepatitis B

My father was found HBs Ag (+) on his routine blood examination. His serology shows HBeAg(-) ,Anti HBe (-), IgM Anti HBc (-), AST,ALT r normal. Is it necessary to take antiviral? Necessary to do further tests?

Generally to determine whether your father requires treatment or not, it would be useful to know his viral load (hbvdna) and the current state of his liver by fibroscan or a biopsy. I hope these assays are available in your country. In any case, he should have the liver function tests and repeat his ALT and HbsAg tests in a few months time.

Those are just basic tests you posted. So yes you need more tests to tell more, HBsAg in IU/ml, HBV DNA IU/ml, Fibroscan/biopsy.
Everything should be done via hematologist.

cheers.
