hbvdna is not the number of viruses, it is not enough to understand the situation...the hbv life cycle is very complex and cannot be measured by hbvdna only...it may have nothing please check liver damage by fibroscan this is the most important test to see if there is damage or not
do not be tense, it is not the virus that makes liver damage but the immune system so hbvdna is useless
see here all the tests needed to understand the status of the infection and most important of all this info will help you to find an up to date liver specialist
http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Hepatitis/HepB-Introduction--Welcome-Page/show/34?cid=153
details of the report:
HBV viral load by real time PCR, H 1100000 IU/ml.
Please reply soon , we are very depressed and tensed.
My father's hbvdna pcr report shows the no. of viruses to be 1100000. what course of action should we take now???
DNA counting test it is "hbvdna pcr in iu/ml" from the test indicated by stef2011.
no hbsag quantification is extremely cheap and easy while hbvdna pcr is very expensive and complicated...this might give an idea why US doesnt have it.they just focused to make money, not to cure people
is the quantification test similar to DNA counting test???
like stef2011say, for hepatitis b evaluation the test that you present don't havd many information to present, because the abnormal levels can be from other reasons.
Anyway the information that you present can indicate a liver problem, but we can say that the problem is 100% do hepatitis b virus, can be for example the fatty liver ...
Anyway I say to you to find a good specialist (hepatology specialist or GI specialist) and have a discution with him and also perform the the tests indicated by stef2011 to see what is the situation on the hepatitis b issue.
those tests are useless to see if there is liver damage and therapy is necessary.the following tests are needed:
hbsag quantification by abbott architect in iu/ml
hbvdna pcr in iu/ml
fibroscan to check if there is liver damage
