Viral Load Undetected

After taking Tenofovir for seven months, my viral load test now read Not Detected.
Do I stop the Tenofovir or what does this result mean? I have appointment in next 3 weeks

Hi Olawalemi123, most patients who get treated with tenofovir do achieve undetected serum viral dna within short time of commencement of treatment. The decision when to stop is taken in consultation with your hepatologist who checks your liver enzymes, degree of inflammation/injury of your liver, hbeag status, hbsag quantity/status, family history of hcc, etc. If the doctor decides to stop your treatment it should be done under careful monitoring of your hbv status; becasue often times a dangerous flare happens after patients stop treatment, in which case the treatment has to restart again.
PS. The current antiviral drugs do suppress serum hbv dna to very low/undetectable levels as well as helping reverse eventual harm to the liver over time, but, unfortunately, they have most often to be taken for many years, or even for lifetime. Anyway i wiish you good luck.
