if you plan to switch to tenofovir you have to make combo of the 2 drugs for a couple of months and then continue with one

the reason why it is dangerous to stop these antivirals is that while hbvdna is undetactable liver cells get more infected by cccdna in the majority of cases, so when the antiviral is stopped all the liver cells infected start producing virions and immune system will kill them.

according to the quantity of infected cells by cccdna the outcome can be very very risky especially in those with severe fibrosis becaue most of the liver might be destroyed, the only way to safely stop these antivirals would be cccdna quantification by biopsy but this test is available only in very specialised labs or research centers

you dont have to stop it there are generics available which are cheaper for entecavir

the best choice is change to tenofovir which is more potent without any resistance at all (entecavir has 1% resistance).the only controindication for tenofovir is kideneys disease

tenofovir generics approved by fda outside US
tenvir by cipla or tavin emcure.i'd choose cipla since it is the biggest drug maker

entecavir:
zydus-entehep, natco- x-vir and ranbaxy-entaco.i'd choose ranbaxy as it is the biggest drug maker

let me know if you can t find a very reliable pharmacy to buy
