There is a small procent of people that remain chronic when infected as adults,I personally believe it is between 5-10%,it is hard to know.
Just went back to look at my labs, igm - here as well. Guess I had this from birth/childhood too!
But you've seen my story enough. At some point, it all went very active in me!
Many of us are confused on how we acquired HBV, so you are not alone. HBV is very easily transmitted. Since you know you are now chronic and have been this way for many years more than likely the best thing to do now is to plan for the future by finding a good Hepatologist (liver specialist), and every 6 months monitor with bloodwork, ultrasound or Fibroscan is better. Most live normal and active lives. I would ask your doctor to investigate why your AFP is elevated, but more than likely okay. Also, use the search option for questions that have most likely been asked and answered on this site, you will learn a lot from this. We are all here to help and support you, but the best thing now is to find a good specialist that can help locally support and care for you going forward for your health.
