hbv treatment options
Hbv w/ viral load of a million ,prescribed baraclude havnt started on it yet nor have I had a biopsy done yet.I'm scared of the side effects of the meds and don't want a biopsy.was thinking to start on milk thistle, please comment thankyou!
You told us you are HBsAg(+) and HBV DNA in millions. How are about your HBeAg, HBeAB, ALT, and AST? As these make a difference as to when to start treatment.
I don’t know any of you lab results, but if your Dr thinks you need treatment, then Baraclude is a good choice.
There is no need to be scared of the side effects of Baraclude. Most people do not feel any side effects from it, and if they do, the side effects are minimal and usually go away with time.
Milk Thistle can be beneficial to the health of your liver and might decrease you ALT, but it is not going to bring you viral load down.
You may not need a biopsy, but if you Dr thinks it is time to treat with an anti-viral medication, then this is the better option than milk thistle alone.
Don’t worry about the side effects of the medication……you more than likely won’t notice any. The only thing that scares me about the medication is the price tag.
