hepatitis core antibody reactive

March 13, 2004

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

When I had my recent test of hepatitis.I was told that I am positive of Hepatitis B core antibody and negative of Hepatitis B surface antigen. And the nurse explained well the possibilities of where I acquired it.
My question are:
1. If I am positive with this Hep.B core antibody, does it mean that I am carrier of this disease?
2. Is there any possibility that I will be infectious if my immunity gets low?
3. I have kids, does it mean that they are also positive with this hep. B core antibody and they can't donate blood?

Please explained me well because I really don't have any idea about this issue. And I am very worried about my life now and my family as well.

Thank you very much. Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely yours,
Nicholannie

Gillium,
As you stated Treatment is a roller coaster ride, and there are ups and downs. Here is a web site that can help you deal with the SX if you get them

Here is everything I have on Hep B. I hope that something in there can help you find the answers oyu seek. The tests for HBV can be very confusing to dechipher. The different combonations of the induvidual results can mean different things.

Downthisroad......OH YEAH....another milestone down for you. Enjoy your day of celebration. Watch out for The Badger out there in the woods though. He has a way of poppin up when we least expect him. Also keep an eye (and ear) out for woodpeckers....they are workin for the Badger now I think. That insessant peck, peck, pecking can REALLY set ya off on the tx meds.  HAVE FUN.................

You have reached an important point in your tx and I know you have what it takes to make it to the end!  Have a wonderful day in our beautiful Colorado weather.  Thanks for all of your help and support.  I just did 22/24 last night and have a dr. appt. on the 22nd.  I hope my last injection will be on the 26th and last riba on April 1.  It's getting close now.  I'm looking forward to both of us being done! caruu

DTR -that is so great for you. Get high on life in the mountains. You deserve that and more.

gwithhepc- Thanks so much for your support and wisdom . We feel exactly the way you do about our approach. We had to wait 8 months for a Bx due to a change in Dr's etc etc...During that time we expected the worst Bx results, at that time we were clueless until we found the forum and were educated {in more ways than 1} and very emotional and irrational about this shock to our lives. We are very clear today.

Sounds good and I will be thinking of you!  My sister lives in Denver and LOL...I'm always telling her that on my bad days..I would love to go there on a mountaintop and scream!  haha I think that would feel great to release some build up! And then a picnic...I could do that! haha  Have fun!!

Tomorrow, March 14th marks my 48 week point with this combo treatment.  Although I will extend my medicines another 12 weeks beyond my 48, tomorrow is a wonderful day!!

My husband and I will celebrate by going to the mountains and having a picnic. I don't care what the weather will be (it should be warm and sunny we are having an early spring in Denver the past couple of weeks) I just want to go on a picnic with my husband, spread out the blanket, get out the picnic basket and bask in the mountain air and be very thankful for where I am.

Thank you as always for all the love and comfort, strong support and advice from others that I gain on this forum.  I really am truly blessed to have found all of you.

Here we go another 12 weeks!
