by the way, my case is really chronic. i have HBsAg and that's only for those who have chronic conditions, according to my doctor.
You got me worried Stef2011, I went to my gastroenterologist right away. good thing she is just a couple of miles away. According to her, Tenofovir is not available yet in the Philippines. Probably costs $20 a piece. Interferon is also very expensive for a common Filipino at around $12,000 for 6 months. that's a lot of money for me considering my economic situation. that's about the whole 2 years of my salary granting i will not be spending it. how poor right?
by the way, how do you know all these things? i looked at your profile. ur working at a hepatitis research center?
thank you for your response
i'd definitely change doctor, also consider that in the phillipines doctors are dangerous prescribing hbv drugs whose development has been stopped in the rest of the world for heavy sides and mutations
labs and hospital are missing the main tests to follow hbv infection too, hbsag quant and hbvdna pcr with high sensibility
ask him to use tenofovir instead of lam because you don t want any risk....
or put it very simple to him if any hbv mutation will happen i sue you, what drug will you prescribe to me?
hello. im practically following doctor's prescription. i read the mutation thingy. the issue of not being used anymore i have to research. i'll ask my doctor about it.
i am taking lamivudine and vitamin k.
why lamivudine?tenofovir is the safest hbv drug with no resistance, lamivudine is not used anymore from years since it makes virus mutations very easily
what about your hbcab igm?your hbv is probably acute
high alt is a very good sign in acute hbv it mean your immune system is destroying all infected cell and clearing virus.at the same time liver function must be monitored just in case that immune reaction is too strong but this happens only in 1-2% cases
tenofovir is a much better drug than lam, also entecavir is but once you take lam it is not sfe because can become inefecctive
