Below are some symptoms of acute hep b.  Most people would not experience any of these symptoms. Take also note that experiencing any of the listed symptoms might not neccessary mean an acute HBV infection.
Cold is not a symptom as  stated by zellyf and kissing she has given you the best of explanation.

Loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fever
Aching muscles and sometimes joint pain
Tenderness in the right upper abdomen
Jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)
Tea-colored urine; putty-like or white stool

The only way your friend can be sure of being positive or negetive is to do some blood work.
Should the result be negetive, consider your partner going through the three stages of vaccination and making sure it did work.
Get yourself a good hepatologist and stop worring. Worring kills!
Take care.

No, a cold is not a symptom of acute hepatitis B.

And the chances of getting HBV through kissing are very, very low. It could happen though if you had a cut or sore that was bleeding and then she had an open wound and the right amount of virus got into her bloodstream...you see how this isn't a great method of transmission.
