I agree with Trinity, for me, the neupogin was the harder on me then the other stuff. I had lower back pain and needed to take an over the counter pain reliever which helped. Also had additional fatigue from the stuff. I was lucky (I suppose) to need the injection only 1xweek, but I started needing it at 3 weeks into treatment.
Trinity gave you a great explanation. My bone pain from neupogen was mainly in my leg bones. It lasted a few days. As I got used to the neupogen it wasn't nearly as bad as the first few injections.
I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections. This is usually mild and is caused by the bone marrow working harder to produce more white cells. Occasionally it is more troublesome and pain killers are required.
