I finished the Incivek on Tuesday. The itching is driving me MAD! I know it is a withdrawl/side effect from the Incivek. Any help suggestions?
Thanks

You have a pool don't you? probably need more than one carton though. Then you should probably do some math to get right concentration and that may be hard if the fog rolls in during caculation.

Probably ought to start with Poohs suggestion. It is well written.:)

Being in Florida doesn't help with the heat and all.Stay cool.Shop a lot in the dairy and frozen food sections.Apply cold or ice packs to worst areas before bed.I kept a lot of my clothes in the fridge.Ask your dr or Dermatologist for something for the itch.I was prescribed Diphenhydramine 50 mg every 6 hrs from my dr.At times I had to double up.When the itch started in my upper legs,I shaved them. The hair was tickling me and then started to itch.Stay cool and hang in there.A lot of great advice here and so much I never got to the oatmeal.

Like Pooh said I used the hydroxyzine and also I froze some wet wash clothes and used them the scratch with.  I thought I would go mad as well, had several days of scratching, it did get better, the ice helped a lot
Wishing you the best and knowing how  you are feeling, hope you can get some rest

I had itchy feet at one time, unrelated to tx, and soaking them in cold water was the only thing that worked.

I am not on Incivek but I have had intense itching when I was still detected and am now beginning to itch again(maybe the riba?) When it gets really bad I grab a bag of frozen veggies and put it up against the hot spot areas-usually the abdomen. It helps.

I started to get really bad itching right after I finished Incivek too.  It lasted for the rest of treatment (actually I'm still itching 6 weeks post tx) My skin wasn't dry, I was just itching...from the inside or something...even my scalp....at different times of day...and it kept me up at night.
I tried oatmeal baths and lotsa lotions....I ended up with Zyrtec during the day and Benadryl at night (check with your doctor) and Gold Bond Lotion (green bottle, red cap) for any other time that I needed it, at night for sure.
My doctor said it was the Riba that was causing that.  He could lower the dose if it was super bad but we decided I could manage okay....
Good luck!

Thanks!
Already made the call to the Dr. for the hydroxyzine. They were well aware! Funny how the Incivek makes you itch when you are with drawing? I was on the double Tx in 07 w/out the Incivek and had no itching at all. Appreciate all the Help!

I just went through this so I know your pain. It took about a week for the meds to be out of my system...the hydroxyzine is what saved me..and that advice was compliments of Pooh...it truly worked..I do not have much itching now and I do not take hydroxyzine anymore..I also only needed 20 mg. per dose during the day and 30 mg at night

My first star and it wasn't even meant for me, it was an accident :(.  Pooh I hereby gift my single and only best answer to you. Jon probably was scratching when he clicked best answer.
Thanks Jon for the momentary excitement, I thought the oatmeal pool was really a good idea.  You could have neighborhood over for benefit breakfast after you are done. Call the news station and get film crew out there and promote petition.

Hydroxyzine 50 mg every 6 hours did/is doing wonders for me. It almost completely controlled both the rash and the itching. This is a prescription med. (I found the over the counter crap to be just that, crap, and useless.)

Also:
Keep the house very cool (I keep mine about 68 max)
Wear light weight, loose, cotton clothing
No tight clothing, none with heavy seams (jeans, etc)
Cut the tags out of clothing
No lace, starch, or picky stuff as it will get the itching going
Use very light weight covers at night
Have some fans around, especially at night
Stick your feet out of the covers at night
Stay out of the sun and the heat
Take cooler showers
Use hypoallergenic products

I probably forgot a few things, but I think the general idea is there.

I sure hope you get some relief. That itching can drive a person mad.

Maybe an oatmeal bath? Used to use that on daughters with their chicken pox.  Sorry I don't have any other experience or research.  Probable should use regular and not instant with fruit.
I am sure others will have better answers. Good Luck.
