1st day tomorrow

Well I got my alarm set to 5:30am.
I need to have atleast 1 cup of coffee in me before I can get 20gr fat breakfast down.
Then at 6am it will be the start of my triple tx. 6am 2pm and 10pm on the invicek. I'll take the riba at 6am and 6pm.
But I'm wondering what a good time in the evening to take the pegasys. I'm thinking around 6-7pm.
I usually go to bed around 10

Forgot to mention you can get the powder drink at Cosco, $37.00 for a huge can. By the way this is the 2nd time around for me. Last time had to stop because of hemo problems...went way too low too fast. New doc seems a little more in tune. Last time I had to mix the Peg in a vial ( sorta added insult to injury) this time preloaded. Let's beat this crap!

Hi Marty , I too start tomorrow a.m. I asked my doc about the injection and he said about 1hr before bed along with some tylenol or i.b.s to stave off some of the side effects. Found an interesting means for the 20 grms. There is a health drink called Muscle Milk it has 12 grms of fat along with lots of proteins and vitamins and minerals. I figure that in a glass of whole milk should do the trick. Helps avoid all the other junk you would normally have to ingest. good luck Marty and stay in touch

reiminds me of my first time around with Pegasys.  The pharmacy also filled with the vials instead of the prefills and so I didn't know what kind of syringes to get and neither did they.  They gave me a 25 ga with a 1" needle.  Wow - you could hit bone with that!  After that first shot I got on forum and found out what I needed - (27 ga with the smallest shortest needle possible).  After the first month I had the prefilled which were a breeze.  So don't do what I did.  Go to the pharmacy and get a little needle!

I know what you mean about the eating times.  Although I don' t have to do the 20 grams fat with the VIC, I still need fat with the riba and something to eat 3x a day with the VIC.  Decisions decisions.  I will probably do greek yogurt in the morning.  My problem is that I get tired at 9:00 and don't see how I will be able to stay up to 10 every night.  So if I change to 5-1-9, boy that is an early breakfast.

pjhep80 -- good luck to you tonight too.  Can we synchonize these shots???????

Got the first round of pills down. I'm not use to eating this early so I have to figure out a doable routine for coffee/meal/pills. Found a Jimmy Dean Sausage and Egg Bisquette that has 28 fat grams and a 17oz bottle of flavored water.
Funny you mentioned the preloaded peg syringes.
I have been fighting Cigna about every little detail for 2-1/2 weeks. 12-14 phone calls that average a hour each to as high as 3 hours.
The first 5 times I called them about my cost of all the meds, I got 5 different quotes. Then once I got a firm price which was to be my max out of pocket of $3000, I found co-pay assistance for the INC. When they went to ship my meds via Cigna mail order, they denied the co-pay assistance, made me pay with a cc. Got the box ( Saturday) and found all the riba, inc, and one single vial of pegasys, enough for a single dose and no syringes.
Called them, got them to admit their mistake and they assured me it would ship the correct meds in prefilled syringes on Tuesday. Called Tuesday around noon to make sure and got the reply that since I didn't need the peg untill late Friday, they weren't going to ship until Thursday.
In my efforts to deal with Cigna, I found a contact person in customer service, who can kick some serious butt and get things done. One email to him and I got a call from the mail order pharmacy that my peg would be delivered on Wednesday morning. Plus they are working on getting the co-pay assistance problem corrected.
I think dealing with Cigna has been a total pain and actually getting to treatment is a relief.

Marty  -- you should have had your first INC and Riba this morning.  Hope it went well.  I take my interferon at about 8:00 on Friday night.  Tonight is #3.  I have been taking a tylenol about an hour before shot.  For me, no side effect, just go back to watching TV and go to bed about 10.  Your timing seems good on the INC. I haven't decided exactly when I am going to do my Victrelis.  I have two more weeks to worry about that (and boy, am I ever!).

Did they give you the prefilled Pegasys syringes?  They go really smooth.  I can't say that I am fond of the PegIntron Redipen which I am using this time -- too many things that could go wrong.  Good luck tonight.

Sounds like you are all set Marty!  Those are times I selected too (but I'll be on VIC).  Last week I did the shot at 8 p.m.  Tomorrow, I'm not sure what time my shot will be because my BFF (also a nurse) wants to do it for me.  After that, my plan was to do the shot at 9:30 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. (since I will be taking VIC at 10 p.m.).  All the best to you!  Good question and good advice here from the forum.

I take my shot on Fridays at 8pm.  Same time as my ribavirin.  I get really itchy so I take a Reactine an hour before my shot.  But that's it.  I haven't had any other side effects from the shots.

From what I've read it takes about 5 hours before the pegasys sides kick in so my thinking was to do it early enough to spend most of the time sleeping.

How does does it last?
The sides from pegasys?

I take the Pegasys an hour before bed.  For me if I take it too early I feel bad before I go to bed... I'd rather wait until after I'm asleep!!!  I played around with the time a little... since it's different for everyone you might want to try that too...
