I think that being undetected by week 4 has no correlation to whether you will actually cure or not.
99% of the people in the trials went undetected by week 4, but some still relapsed after Harvoni was over.
The thing with the virus is that it hides in places hard to access by the drug in such a short period of time (remember the virus had years to get there). Your liver hepatocyte cells are slowed down, they metabolize slower.
If you have portal hypertension (all HCV carriers have it more or less even if you aren't cirrhotic - yet) your blood is being diverted around the portal vein into the liver, so the drugs aren't getting where they are supposed to fast enough - it's the main reason why 24 week treatment regimens have better SVR. Not because they are 'stronger' but because for this simple reason: more time to get the drugs where they should be going - because if it was a simply matter of undetected, everybody (well, 99%) gets undetected by week 4, even those on 8 week regimens, even those with advanced cirrhosis.
Be happy that it's working, but save the party for the 12 weeks post treatment viral load test.
Heartiest congratulations .
as everyone else above has mentioned , you are on your way to a complete cure and a healthy life ahead .
best wishes and warm regards .
What they said! Terrific beginning on your treatment!
Those are great numbers, you're on your way to SVR land, great for you!!
You will be fine and undetected on your next blood labs and on to Svr. Congratulations
