Hi there,

Welcome to the discussion group. Treatment decisions are usually determined by liver biopsy or other factors. Please repost your question by clicking on the ‘post a question’ button near the top of the page; you’ve tagged onto a thread that was started in 2006, and your thoughts will get lost in here.

fishdoc --I certainly would think all that milk would count as fat.  No worries there.  What about weight vs riba -- under 165# = 1000mg a day, and over 165# = 1200 mg a day, maybe you can even stand more than that.  I started out over 165# so was put on 1200mg.  Now I am under, so wear my shoes and put rocks in my pockets when I weigh in -- don't want them stinkin' docs to lower my dose.  When I got really sick in March and dropped to #153, I got even more anemic.

cando -- My day is going well.  Hey, it is Friday.  Funny how I look forward to shot night ( only the peg -I don't look forward to the Neup or Proc) tonight.  Probably won't get my icecream doseage in tonight - doesn't seem to go with the shot too well.  I am feeling overall pretty darn good for a woman my age (LOL)

Well, you have to remember I'm in the middle of nowhere... a consult is a 200 mile trip.....anywhere any direction... theres a reason the aliens chose this area to crash land... just a perspective: NM is the 5th largest state, last time I heard a census, we were at like 1.5 million people, and 60% of them live in the albuquerque/sante fe areas..(200-270 miles north). that means lots of wide open spaces for the rest of us, but Docs, and especially good docs are a rare commodity.  Also, last biopsy was in 1999....and I have had SLIGHTLY elevated ALT/AST for a year and a half....long and short of it, I'll stick with this horse for a while..... see what is happening at 24 weeks..and then make a decision... it will be interesting to get JmJMs opinion, if he finds the threads!!  I hear you on that, the way I feel these days if I don't respond to something, I didn't open that thread at all....lots I don't read..take care, ....

Wow that is some high number they aren't teasin!  are you taking the Riba with FAT to make sure it is absorbed?

Hey gal, all those numbers are great except one. Are you on the right dose of riba? You know with all that extra hair weight your careing. Might want to talk to your doctor about a new aproach. Your hgb is great so maybe a little more riba. You might want to post this during the day and get some ideals. Your a responder, just not as fast as you need to be. Take care gal.

Do talk to your doctor, maybe even a consult with another. In all these years your bx. 3 1/2 years ago showed only a stage 0 and grade 1. So this seems to be moving very slow with you. More people without hep-c have worse damage. I'm no study expert but do have SOME common sense. These meds are some serious stuff. If you been reading the board then you've seen long term effects from these meds. Not saying you should quit but you need to remember the risks vs reward with this stuff. You don't want to kill yourself trying to cure yourself. And i would think it would be safe to say your liver isn't much worse now then 3 years ago. Our odds go way down with out at least close to the 2 log drop. At least disuss what you should do with another doc besides the one you have. You know i only have what i think (Which for whats thats worth) your best interest at heart. Now don't go get that pitchfork out.

I wondered the same thing about the riba since her hgb has stayed the same. Might not mean anything but after 12 weeks you would think some drop would happen. Hope your having a great day

Damn - I don't like those numbers. Just a thought, but how much Riba are you taking -- your hgb is so high still, and that can be an indication of the riba absorption not high enough.  I didn't know you were in Roswell -- in fact, for some reason I thought you were in California - where I got that from, who knows.  I love Roswell -- it's about 5 hours from here.  Hubby has relatives there and we have been there a lot.  I realize 200 miles is far for a consult, but it still might be something to consider.

Hey pretty, strange, I cut the hair on my head off for the rash on my back, and I don't cut the hair on my legs and pits because of the rash.... i am totally befuddled....

Thanks for the encouragement, as always strator.  Like I said, the buggers could drop or add ten thousand copies in an hour, so I am content that they dropped two orders of magnitude... good enough for me...

Ha!  Nothing can stand up to a determined Fishdoc shaking her finger at it!  I am surprised you didn't use it on the cute little gay guy that cut your hair!  I would have had to ask if he mistook my head for my pits!  Or at least I would have asked for matching pits!

michguy-I 'm on week 34/48, a 1a and my starting VL was 18.7million. At 24weeks I was still at 3140. As far as the new meds and sx I guess the ones that could compare that best are the poeple who have been through tx a few times. Wish you the best.

fishdoc- The finger of doom, the pitchfork of doom...but never the attitude of doom, I like it. I'm sure you've kicked some riff raff out of haystacks before. I was slightly dissapointed at the 12week being , but my doc hadn't even wanted to do one. He said look your doing 48wks no matter what,  why let the numbers mess with your head.
One thing I was told about a finish line, it's still there whether you come in at the front of the pack or the end.
I would not want to be one of the riff raff you were chasing dangerous Lady. Be Well and don't be your usual dainty self with them BAst***s, put on the big shoes and squish.

CDMan- speaking of Riff Raff young man..you've been a little too quiet..if I find out you've been sneaking out of your room I'm gonna have ya cleaning up 'used' fudgicles for a week! Speak UP!

i'm at 27,000,000 geno 1a i'm trying to decide weather to start tx or not. my doc said that its a very high load but he still rec. tx. I did see another doc. that said there is a clinical trial going on that i would be perfect for, being a 1a and high vrl. but I'm not a candidate due to a bleeding poblem. maybe you could look into that. sorry i don't know anymore about it maybe someone else here does.

Hey pretty, nope, not yet, just picked up copies, but as a geneticist,  i know the process of viral replication... I can make like a million copies of DNA in an hour, virus are nothing but DNA, so from one hour to next, jumping 10,000 viral particles is just as likely as not, and I felt soooo bad last week, the virus just had a neckup on me.  When I say I am not concerned, I am really not.... the BAst***s arent through with me yet... they haven't met the "finger of doom"....
