shots?

So from reading peoples comments it seems that some people go in for their weekly shot and some people give the shot to themselves. Is it the Drs choice or our choice?

when the nurse showed me, it seemed really overwhelming, but it isn't too bad. check this out, I haven't watched it all the way through, and my syringes aren't pre filled, but the method of injection is the same, I think:

summer...because you inject "subcutaneous" .. just under your skin, it's really easy. You can inject in your abdomen and if you have a bit of a "pillow" there...well, for once it makes things easier.  There's very little to no worry about hitting a vein.  I rotated around four spots on my abdoment.  I also had a nurse show me but made me do it myself also and I was nervous too, don't much like needles but it was fine.

I had an appointment scheduled for the first shot to go over the full procedure since it was very foreign to me.  The nurse went over everything, but encouraged me to do it.  It was very odd, seemed like alot to remember, but no big deal.

If someone had a major phobia, I think most offices will arrange for you to come into their office for the injection.  I believe most do it a home, mostly for convenience from the comfort of your own home, no need to drive anywhere, etc.  Also, many do it later in the evening just prior to bed which makes self injection an easier choice.  If a spouse or friend is available to help if needed, even better.

believe me....i would think the last thing that would bother you is giving yourself the shot....its simple....there are many other things going on to deal with....i look forward to my shots cause its one closer to end ....good luck.....billy

I did mine with my doctor. He showed me what to do, but I wanted to actually put the shot in just to make sure I could do it without him. I worry more about hitting the darn veins.

I think it is the Docs choice, I do know some people go in and the nurse will give you the shot until you feel comfortable doing it yourself, I believe most give themselves their own shots. I am hoping when my time comes that my friend who is a nurse will give me mine until I can stand to do it myself as I am petrified of needles. I am sure someone else will chime in but I believe the patient gives their own shots.
