Yes, I changed docs soon after Riba was cut, mostly because she wanted to throw in the towel (a.k.a. my life, I DON'T Think so ;-).  Been seeing NP of doc, who I guess was kind of a hep c tx pioneer of sorts, and began Procrit immediately after the switch.  We got Riba back to 1200 mg 3 wks ago, but Hgb has been hovering in the 10's preventing me from moving to the 1400 mg target we want to reach.  Increased Procrit last week to 80,000 U to try and get Hgb a bit higher before increasing Riba.

I guess we are going to look at a 72 wk tx period beginning from the point when we reach 1400 mg. Which either means another 72, 74, or 76 wks of tx, provided of course we see 3 month response at 1400 mg level.

I did drop from 72 mil to 1.8 mil VL in the first 12 wks, with 4 wks at 1200, 8 wks at 600 mg of Riba, shortly after my transfer, so we consider it as my being a responder.  But in the 12 wks which have followed it has jump back to 2.9 mil VL as we have played with the Procrit and Riba dosages.

Not encouraging to say the least and a real test of faith to maintain despite all physical evidence to the contrary.  Riba mind games don't help the matter any either I might add.

I should qualify that this does not appear to be normal from what I've been told for those who are reading, wondering, and contemplating tx.

No problem, it's hard for me to tell my left from my right! Brain fog rules my world. I just didn't want the poster to get mixed up.

I have been trying to piece together your story from other posts, I gather you were treating, had to reduce riba due to the doctor's lack of know how and your VL then went up? Did you change docs? Now on higher dose? Did the VL reduce? Sorry, I have a hard time keeping all the stats/people straight. Just wondering if I have the story about right and how you are doing now. Sounds like you got hit with the bad sides stick. Hope they ease up on you soon.

Your correct.  Sorry, blame it on brian fog, it's my other left I was thinking of ;-)

Liver right, Kidney left, right, no left, aww I'll just mark an L & R with permanent marker so I can remember.  Wait write with left, not with right, I think I got it now.....  what were we talking about again? <G>

Liver pain is often described as "upper right quadrant" pain.
My doc palpatates my RIGHT side, not my left when checking my liver..

definately a real Doctor concern....it sounds like you are in serious pain!

It depends upon which side.  Middle left side could be liver, middle right side kidney.

Sorry you're having problems. You might want to have an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist have a look.

I also had a clogged up feeling in my ears and it turned out to be related to my sinuses which were inflamed by LPR which is a kind of chronic reflux that can involve the larynx, ears and throat. Your stomach problems could be related to the reflux as well.

That's why Nasonex probably helped Morgaina, as it's all connected up there. The ENT may put a light probe down your throat for a better look and will probably also check out your middle ear with some sort of resonating device, as well as give you a hearing test.

If it turns out you do have reflux, they may prescribe a H-2 inhibitor like Zantac or a PPI like Nexium. Or, it just may be garden variety sinusitis, or seasonal allergies which again they might prescribe Nasonex or an antihistamine.

In any event, what I found when treating was to get agressive with side effects as soon as possible so they didn't develop into anything more serious.

Hope you feel better soon.
