Addendum to reptile question

To clarify, I have hepatitis C.  My question about handling reptiles is because reptiles are known to be carriers of salmonella.  Salmonella, while generally not a walk in the park, is supposed to be catastrophic for those immuno-compromised.
I apologise for not being more clear.
And the kitties are more of a danger to said reptile..

years ago my son had an iguana and two turtles, he would never clean them. The stink sometimes drove me nuts so I would end up cleanin the buggers, and that night dinner fell thru me, if I drank a cold glass of water it would fall out cold, any way it was that salmonella ****, lost a week of work and a bit of dignity from taking stool samples. The critters were sent to the LFS.
You sould be carefull like you say, it's not so much the Hep but the treatment that will leave you more vulnerable to that nasty bacterial infection, I think.

Hepatitis C does not compromise the immune system as does HIV for example.
Patients with normal liver function and white cell count are no more susceptible to infection than the population at large.
My guess is that there would not be a problem.
