It is listed as one of the side effects and is quite common. I've found that I don't itch nearly as bad if I keep a good coat of lotion on my skin to fight the dryness.

My husband had a terrible itch reaction to the ribavirin part of treatment, and he broke out in terrible rashes.  Not everyone has open sores, but my husband's skin reaction being rather severe his doctor prescribed Atarax (aka hydroxyzine) which helped a great deal.  Many people suggest drinking more water and keeping the skin hydrated with lotions also helps minimizes the itch.  Hope that helps.

Ribavirin has been found to cause itching and nasal stuffiness. These are histamine-like side effects; they occur in 10 to 20 percent of patients and are usually mild to moderate in severity.
