My BP was very high after tx. I was put on Enalapril and Metaprolol. About 1 year post tx my blood pressure started to drop all of a sudden and I slowly weened myself off of the meds. I am now 18 months post tx and my BP averages about 130 over 75 or 80. (pre hypertensive)
Diet and excercise will help but you must be consistent with it. I am about 20 lbs more than I should be but can't lose the weight. Weight lifting makes me very hungry. I switched to a low fat diet with lots of fruit and whole grains and I lost about 3 lbs lbs woop de do. Keep trying different things. Weight loss will definitely help and diet and excercise will as well but most people can't be consistent with diet and excercise.

I am on standard care for high BP through my GP. I am also using Cozaar for the BP specifically because it has been shown to potentially decrease fibrosis, and have some effect on ED, and mood! Pretty interesting drug. You will see some recent threads on Cozaar (Losartan), and its effect on fibrosis. By taking this particular class of BP drugs, you may be able to 'kill two birds with one stone', or three or four even!
I do believe that my high BP may be a permanent issue, but I am going to try to do a very intensive diet/exercise/weight loss regime for the coming year, to see if I can get the numbers to normal, and potentially either reduce or eliminate the BP drugs. We will see what happens. I am about 15 pounds over my normal weight, and almost 20 pounds over my tx weight. My diet has been haphazard as well, and sleep habits have been not very disciplined. I am curious to see how my BP looks after a concerted effort to get back into top shape, and to eat only a very heart healthy diet. I'll keep you posted. I would love to be able to ditch the drugs. Thank you, it is a very helpfull information.
Do you if the high BP is permanent or maybe improve along time ?
Does it require special care or the regular care everyone gets when BP is high ?
Thank you,
Jacob
If you look at old forum threads on Blood Pressure and TX, you will find that many people develop high BP, Metabolic Syndrome, Thyroid problems, and even autoimmunity after doing tx. The BP issue seems to appear in many right after getting off of tx. Search for old threads and you will find lots of info on this subject. Personally I think that the high BP that appears for a group of us after tx may come from the development of a degree of autoimmunity. If you research autoimmune disease, such as Lupus, you will find that blood pressure issues are a common symptom of these conditions. Maybe tx creates a non-specific state of autoimmunity, thus provoking the high blood pressure. Whether or not this is the cause, I can still tell you that high BP does seem to appear after tx in a number of people.
