Blood work question

Hi! I am geno2b. I started treatment on Dec.3 2012 . My first Dr. was  not ordering the correct tests. So I went to a new Dr. In Jan.
He ordered the HCV/PCR  and the resultst were ---undetectable virus. (Und). Those results were given to me on Jan. 22 2012. The nurse I spoke with did not have the protocol for blood work on geno2b. However she did know there was one missing, that would be the 12 week test. Realistically it's the 4 week. Also the Dr. Is out of town so if he were to order another would it be worth it? I have my order to get my EOT (end of treatment) test in May. What bearing at this point would it have on my results of treatment to get another HCV/PCR.
So the 4 week and 12 week were considered combined.
Hope this makes sense, he tried to fix what the first Dr. messed up. He retested me for everything, genotype, afp, I did another ultra sound. So that's the glitch.  Thanks so much! :)

Sorry I missed the mark but I get it now. You did not have a 4 week PCR so you dont know if you achieved an RVR. Your first PCR was at 7 weeks in which you were UND but technically thats not an RVR...but rather an EVR. You cant replace a 4 week PCR with a 7 week one. Its like in my case, my first PCR was at 5 weeks. I missed the 4 week mark too so clinically I am considered an EVR even though I may have been an RVR...but well never know. Thats why Im treating longer than 24 weeks. Anyways, Im not sure about a G2...I know more about a G3 even though they group us in the same studies...we have many differences.

The 12 week PCR is to see if you achieved an EVR in which you already established with your 7 week PCR. It is still good to have a PCR now because if you have a viral breakthrough...you need to know. So, I would ask for a PCR now and make sure you have one at the end of treatment too. Get the lab slip now so you already have it. Your almost done!

There are more people on here familiar with the SOC for Genotype 2.
Here is a flowchart that shows some of the treatment milestones and labs. I am not very good with Photoshop so I just used pink to circle the box that mentions labs. There might be other ones depending on your diagnosis.

Week 12 was one of the milestone labs since it shows whether you had the 2 log drop but you were UND so that must be a huge relief.

My thyroid got messed up during treatment and we caught it in time so that is why I remind people to have their TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) prior to treatment and during.

It is right here:

Other Geno 2s on here and those be cirrhosis might chime in and see if there is anything you missed or should ask for but who knows. It kind of sounds as if you are OK for know though I would ask about labs :)

So glad you responded. I was fixing up all my papers today, you had said keep all your labs and paper work. Well I don't know how this happened but its possible he forgot to order it. It's the only thing missing. I just did the CBC, Thyroid. He also updated the AFP because end of dec it was 281/2 now it's 9. When he comes back ill just ask him to order it!! I'm having end of treatment melt down. Don't need mistakes at this point!  Thanks Idyllic

Just to be clear: Start was 03 December 2012 and as of today you are in week 17 and you have had one PCR and it was on week 7. Not sure about the 12 week PCR but I would want a PCR just the same. Plus depending on when you had other labs it might be worth having a recent TSH and maybe a CBC :)

Yes it wasn't easy to convey!! What it boils down to is I missed the 4 week so he did it at 7weeks. So all total I have only had 1 HCV/PCR test. My treatment ends on May 18. I will get my EOT test in may. Should I get another one when he gets back next week?

Im trying to follow...so you did have the 4 week PCR which was UND...but did not have a 12 week PCR? Is this correct?

"What bearing at this point would it have on my results of treatment to get another HCV/PCR. "

None...you can have as many HCV/PCR tests as you can handle. Ive had it done throughout treatment. More than just the standard 4, 12, and 24. If you missed the 12 week PCR...Id have it done ASAP.

I feel like Im missing the question though..sorry Kitty.
