Blue Pills RULE!!

I just got my week 6 VL count . . .

Up until week 4 it was SOC only. After week 4 labs we introduced the Boceprevir/placebo:

1,320,000 Day 1
940,000 Week 2
629,000 Week 4
<25  Week 6

I'm taking that to mean that it was still detectable, but not by much. (I'm going to verify when I see them Thursday.)

I think that's a 4.4 log drop? Seems like it should be bigger than that. :)

Color me happy! Color me blue. :) And I *am* happy dancing (especially now that the Procrit has kicked in).

added foo's numbers:

to the Blue-Brigade graph. Looks like an outstanding SOC response;  that residual lingering VL is a puzzle but I don't recall VL at that low a level so early in tx ever barring anyone on this board from SVR.

On the plus side, looks like everyone got a 2-log drop long before day 84 and  is likely to be und by w12 - the criterion for the bad-not-so-old-soc-only days. Good luck everyone - with or without blue pills, those graphs look good!

I'm thinking I got the placebo as well since I had VL of 226 when starting the trial drug. After four weeks of blue pills I am still detectable at <25.

TW 0 (Day 1)
HCV RNA iu/mL: 9,920,000

TW 2 SOC
HCV RNA iu/mL: 2420

TW 4 SOC
HCV RNA iu/mL: 226

TW 6 Blue Pills added
HCV RNA iu/mL: detectable <25

TW 8
HCV RNA iu/mL: detectable <25

I will have week 10 back next Wed. Either placebo or I do not respond to PI's I guess.

Found out that we are told immediately if there is any mutation in our virus from the PI. I am going to hope I am getting the placebo, because I want a shot at the PIs when they are approved and I have some control.

Guess that is premature though. Am trying to stay hopeful that I will clear by 12. Only three weeks away.

Thanks for the graph! It's very inspiring. I'm going to print it out and put it up on the wall and look at it when I'm feeling worn out by the drugs. The visual reminder of their power will be very helpful as I continue this journey.

And you're right. I *did* really need it. Makes me feel soooo lucky. Wow.

hope you won't  think of this as stalking, more like vicarious tx, but I  couldn't resist plotting those numbers. From the posts I got log/days values of

which are much clearer as a plot

unless I got a typo in there, I'd guess two placebos and one real mccoy - though based on the slow SOC response GB was the one who really needed it.

What a difference?  Congratulations!

Portann, this pretty much confirms that I’m getting the placebo.

Screening – 3,900,000
Week 2    - 3,500
Week 4     - 2,500
Week 10   - 160

Week 6 and 8 blood lost.

I never thought I would say this, but I hope that I’m not detectable at 12 weeks and hopefully be in the arm that becomes open label to week 48.

Jim, my sensitivity is <10.  So says the lab that loses blood samples.

great news! Do let us know what the results actually mean, because depending on the sensitivity of the test used, it could be UND. Maybe someone else in the trial has that information

Thanks for sharing my excitement yesterday. Sure made shot night last night a lot sweeter and a lot less like punishment, I'll tell you! (Even so, I'm beginning to feel the post-shot fever coming on right now. No one escapes the Spanish . . . oh nevermind.)

And thanks to everyone who also shared my worries a few weeks ago. Much easier to get through the uncertainty when there's a big group of knowledgeable and caring folks who are helping me.

To FlGuy: The blue pills have been eclipsed by the Blue Pills and that is categorical.

To Cando: Wish I could tell you, dear Cando, but I really don't know.

portann.......Or is boceprevir the only explanation for GB's numbers?
---------------------------------
GB was just spinning her wheels on SOC going no where. Starts the blue pills and 2 weeks later is very close to und. IMHO this is the most clear case of getting the real thing........ Add to that the nasty taste and the HGB drop which are both signs of getting the real deal.

BTW portann how you doing???

Is it in any way possible that GB could have seen this wonderful result with SOC and placebo? Do some people ever plummet on SOC in week six instead of four?

Or is boceprevir the only explanation for GB's numbers?

Glad that the Procrit worked out too. I am taking mine as well. Your log drop of 4.72 got you to UND!!!
