Thanks everyone for the encouragement...you really are a great bunch and it's so nice to know everyone is here for each other in this battle. Well, I made it thru the first week and did #2 last night. The first week wasn't too bad...I know it could have been a heck of a lot worse! I just had the fever off and on but the main thing for me is just being massively tired and about 2:00 each day I am in ALOT of pain. I know that most of the pain thing is just from sitting still at work all day. I have 2 herneated discs in my upper back/neck area so I normally hurt by the end of the day but it's just alot worse now. Mainly right now I am hurting in my lower back on both sides (I'm not sure but I think like where the kidneys are). If it keeps up I'll call and ask the doc Monday. I'm just working on trying to keep a positive attitude and trying to make light of it where I can find some. I know that alot of people are worse than me and I'm just hoping that it stays like it is. I really hope that this post makes sense!!
Sunqueen..how was your first week?
A perfect day to start your independence from HCV! ... Show that dragon some REAL fireworks! Best of luck.

Hi Ladies, I'm so proud of you both :-). Michelle I was please to see your post on the 7th as I was wondering how you got on - well done; I so hope it goes well for you. I should've started on 4th July also and woosed out (felt so bad but woke with so many doubts on the day that I put everything on hold). Having not responded way back in '94 my chances are lower and the protocal in NZ says they will not extend 24 weeks tx (they do overseas for us 3A non-responders). I shouldn't moan, I know how much you G1's have to put up with, and a friend is currently in her 8th month. I just couldn't really see much point of putting me through 6 months. However, I did get my other concerns looked into and started on Wed 9th July with no majors for the first week (thanks to all on this site also for helping me get started).
YEA ! For you.I pray your whole time of tx will be as good as this past week and you'll start feeling better.Keep a positive attitude. You can DO IT ! I hope your family is well.Your boyfriend seems like he cares alot.Hang on to him.I really do hope the best for you.Look it's Friday again, 2nd. shot.I talked to my Dr. this week and I'm now waiting for an approval call.My RA enzymes are way high and he demanded I get tx NOW.We'll see.I put it in God's Box...+

I knew you could do it. Just think, every day that goes by is one day closer to UND. There's only so many shots and pills and you're done. "As grains of sand pass through the hour glass, so do the dosages of our treatment".

Wishing you good luck! I started tx last week on July 4 too. I figured Independence Day seemed like a fine day to begin.
Good job! i took a shot on the same day :)
Good Luck!
Hey, good for you, I should be following you very soon. I'll keep cheering you onward!! That's a 4th of July to remember for sure. God Bless
Just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. I am starting on Friday......
Hi everyone...thanks for the encouragement. I'm just glad to have started this battle and get it on it's way. I have felt like **** for so long with the muscle aches, fevers and constantly tired that if I have them from the side effects I probably won't even notice. My boyfriend gave me a hug tonight and told me I was burning up...I didn't even notice..I'm used to it.
Debbie...yeah I get to do the 48 weeks (geno 1) so I only have 47 more to go. Good luck with yours and just remember that this is the first step to kicking this.
Thanks again everyone...I really appreciate you all!
Michelle
Best of luck, glad the first one went smooth for you. I can remember that first shot jitter. Don't hesitate to ask all the questions that are going to pop up. Many good people here.

Hi Michelle,
Best of luck on tx.. i will be starting on Friday and yes I am alittle scared. I keeping good thoughts that all will go well. Are you tx for a year? I am set to do 24 weeks. I will keep a look out for you on the site since we will just about on the same schedule.
Take care.
I'm geno 1 - stage 3 also. Took shot 15 Friday. Have had some sx but not as serious as some. The first 12 wks were challenging - low grade fevers, ached, fatigue - but things have started to level out somewhat since wk 12. I don't think I'll ever feel "normal" but I've been able to work through treatment to date so I consider myself lucky. When my platelets started to go south is when I felt the worse, white count was down as well but my blood work is stable for now, haven't needed any rescue drugs yet. It's a day by day process and I made the mistake of posting on my profile the other week that I was feeling like my old self again. Big mistake, shortly after that I felt like crapp for the entire week so I put the mojo on myself. Everybody experience is different and I hope the next 47 wks are smooth sailing for you! Good Luck

Good for you :)
Don't freak out if you get weird symptoms - if you've been reading this forum then you probably know the drill. Keep in touch with your doctor and good luck!
Good luck to you! I was very lucky...I only got a little tired from the shots but other than that..life went on as "normal".
