Go to: CNN.COM.HEALTH there is some very positive news there about a Hepc cure.....
Got a new one for you!! Thanks, and yes, I am feeling better. My back is pretty sore. Took the bandage off, and there is like five stitches back there. Bigger hole than I thought.
AHH!! The lobster dinner?? Been eating lobster for two weeks, and tomorrow is opening day for the regular season. I still have about 8 or so tails in the freezer, but will be heading out to get some more this weekend..Your always welcome..Snook
Don't worry, I'm just messing with you on the name..Trying not to be so serious all the time..Let it out!!!! It feels so much better to get stuff off your chest, doesn't it??That is why this place is so important to all of us!! Good luck with everything, and SVR to you!!
I'm still braving the storm, and trying to step up to the plate with confidence this time..Have a wonderful day!!! Snook
Well, its ok, coming from you.. Your esp must have picked up awhile ago, as I'm a loyal Chevy man!!
Gotta start using sunscreen..All these years, I would just burn, and didn't care..Life sure has a way of changing your thinking..Definately gonna be buying some SPF, and a hat..Thanks, Snook
American standards are not higher, just greed and profitable meds push everything else aside..Dr's are afraid to speak out about supplementation, as those who do, get outcast, and ridiculed..The American economy has a huge share in the healthcare industry, and if pharmacuticals where not prescribed by Dr's, alot of people would be out of business..Sorry to get started on this, as I will stop here..There is evidence on the WWW that proves supplementation works..
By the way, did I say ooooouuuuuucccccchhhhhhh!!!! Just came back from dermatologist..It turned out, only had two bad spots.. One was severly displastic, and one was Basil Cell carcinoma.. Sure as H*ll didn't like the sounds of that..It feels like I have a cat clawing at my back..These damn stitches are soooo tight, I can barely swing my arm!! Anybody know anything about Basil cell carcinoma?? I am going to do a search, but she told me it was the best one to get.. It does not spread easily, and was caught very early..Looked like a small strawberry, or red mole..If anybody has one like this, get it checked out..That one they just scraped and burned..Sure smells weird, burning flesh I mean..
I don't agree with everything you said but I do agree that profitablety is a major factor in the US. If the company was unprofitable would you have a job for long? And I do believe America's standards are higher, otherwise drugs would get to market faster. That's why some medicine's banned in the U.S. are allowed for sale in other countries (which I think is wrong). I was just pointing out what I found with a simple search. I'm not saying supplements are all bad or all good. Supplements in the US aren't as strickly monitered as drugs are. Making it much easier to market with little or no testing. But I may be biased my brother in-law worked for and retired from a major drug company and is now working for another major drug company (not involved with Hepatitis C drugs that are on the market) as a Teratolgist for Drug Safety Evaluation. I got to admit I wish I made a third of the money he makes. I've heard stories from him on how much time and money was spent on a drug to not be able to market it.
If you do a search on google of DR. Berkson all the sites seem to be commercial promoting his book. I saw it on Janis's site today too. A German publication is the only one to publish it, no American publication has. It makes me suspicious. I think American standards are much higher.

Mark S. Sulkowski, M.D. had a question asked about DR. Burton Berkson,M.D.Ph.D. in Febuary 2001 His response wasn't favorable. His answer is below. The question and answer are at this link.

Mark S. Sulkowski, M.D.'s Answer
For those of you who follow the site - I think you know my answer. SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE! Anecdotes and personal experience are not evidence.
The greatest advance in medcicine (arguably) in the 20th centuary has been to development of evidence based medicine. Gone are the days of the curall tonic and elixers, giving way to the randomized, placebo controlled trial. Wait are cure-all tonic and elixers really gone? No, apparently they are not.
Hepatitis C is potentially a serious disease and there is therapy albeit one with side effects that can effectively treat HCV infection. One should never consider "natural" therapies without undergoing a very thorough evaluation and consideration of the therapies shown to work.
There is an old asying that comes to mind "if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is."
Hey, I am not saying that supplements are all good, or all bad either..Not anti-pharmacutical..I just go by info I find on web, personal experience, and lots of medical books around the house..Supplementation does help, and like I posted a few months ago, there was a study done at Harvard Med School about Dr's..It asked all the Dr's how they managed to stay so healthy..58% of them admitted to taking supplements, and only 13% said that they recommended those same supplements to their patients out of fear and pressure from the medical community.Nac is a supplement, and it is the only used antidote for tylenol overdose..This supplement actually coats the liver cells and protects them from damage and inflamation. Now, isn't this a good thing to take if HCV is effectively trying to destroy our liver cells daily?? The only reason that this supplement is still used, is probably because there isn't as HIGH of a demand to force pharmacutical companies to develop a drug of their own..As soon as one does, do you think that the hospitals will still use NAC??? Just my 2 cents, best of luck too us all!!
The thing that scares me about herbal, supplemental remedies, is that noone, not FDA or Ag. dept., has any idea what they use or any control over thier ingredients or claims. I was reading up on St. John's wort and found that some samples tested contained traces of cocoa leaves. Now in the old days I would have bought all I could get my hands on, but being the liver owwy coward I am now----. But, if I saw research to back claims, and believed the research to be sound, I don't think I would hesitate to try them. I am post tx. and feeling reasonably assured of SVR, however I am still ESLD. So believe me I am looking, but I will wait the full year to make sure all tx. meds are out of my system. Joni
befumbledarned: Not at all assuming anything..you must have misunderstood one of our posts..Chev is like a cyber mother to me, and has helped me alot with support..Also straightened me out when I've gotten out of line..
Where the swamp land, I'll give you a buck an acre??
Sorry to butt in, but saw a remarkable study on the Janis website about supplementation..Involved three key antioxidants, and IS a documented medical study on effectiveness of supplementation..The link is:

Amazing info, I already take these supplements right now, but not in the high doses the Dr recommends..Give it a look if you haven't before, very interesting..
looks like you are a canidate for 48 wks of tx
janis7hepc.com is a very good site to help you interpreting tests results for bloodwork and biopsy. It also has many useful links and resources. Read about the ferritin's influence in the effectiveness of treatment. It seems a little high.
