Cough from tx

Does anybody know what causes the cough while on tx? It is a sx that isn't going away but is getting worse over time but I never cough anything up. What is the deal?

Hi Diane,  I had a bad hacking deep cough early on so my doc told me to get a chest x-ray to rule out a drug related condition that causes the immune system to  attack the lungs.  It is a small side effect in a few of us who are treating.  I didn't have it, but I still have the cough, but it comes and goes. My doc said it will go away when I am no longer putting this stuff in my body.  For me, another 20 weeks from today!  It is annoying, but not serious.

Hope you are managing treatment as a whole with success.  Take Care,

jaz

Well, it could always be something else. I would go to the doc so he can at least rule it out.

That's good to know. I used to cough a little each day, and I figured that was the cough I read about, but when it started getting me out of bed at night, and making me feel like if I cough one more time I'll throw up... I wondered it that was the same thing or not.

Hi Diane, I coughed all the time too. Hack hack hack, people were always asking me if I had a cold because my nose was runny too sometimes.  All part of the "flu-like symptoms" It will go away.
hang in there!

Ribavirin otherwise known as the riba cough. Very common side effect.  It will resolve after stopping treatment
