Sorry, hit "post" too soon. Used abuteral inhaler and also took mucinex to keep lungs moving things up and out. Be careful about this sx, it can become quite serious for some. I went to ER two times during my TX this spring. After the last of the ribavirin it cleared up a month later. Regards, G
wyn is right about some having the "riba cough", as I developed it along with some pneumonia in my right lung. The ribivirin causes bronchitis in many also. I used albuterol inhaler and
The official titla of my position was "Vocal Music teacher" but I consuidered it more a prison guard/babysitter.traffic cop job. *LOL*
I was a woodwind player but was bored with teaching instrumental music so i went to the lower grades as a 'vocal' specialist.
Anyway - there wasn't one kewl friggin thing about it except for the steady paycheck and that was basically blood money.
Anyway, I would imagine your breath control will come back after you're through with TX. That is one of the major SX; the SOB.

wow you're a vocal coach!!! kewl :)
I sing, not professionally but did quite a bit of onstage karaoke stuff - and ever since tx I can't hold my breath long enough to gain a normal note - I am concerned that this will not improve after tx ends...I love to sing and it would really throw me if my voice didn't bounce back
Well, even 4 cigs a day will aggravate the throat, as you know.
But, FWIW, the first 3 months I couldn't talk for more than a couple of minutes without coughing and the talking made it worse. The coughing is often caused by post nasal drip and there's a common sx called riba-cough.
that's one reason I went out on medical leave.
I (was) a teacher, too, and a vocal music teacher to boot.
The coughing did go away after a couple of months but I think it's more coz I don't use the voice much than anything else.

ps - i don't see HOW you can teach on these meds! Wow.
I heard that smoking while on tx can give you that riba cough - not so sure though...I coughed a little bit at first but I started drinking even more water and it went away..But I do notice that I loose my voice every once in awhile
I have gotten down to four cigs in the evening. I'm a teacher and can't smoke.
