Delay a day for pegasys shot 8, on incivek

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone might know what the risks are if you delay taking your pegasys shot for a day.  The family has an important event tomorrow and I would really like to attend but I am worried that the pegasys shot will suck the life out of me and I will not be able to attend or stay for the few hours.

I know the instructions say to take the shot if you miss it for within a 2 day timeframe and then go back to the normal schedule the next week.

Is there a risk to treatment success if I delay 1 day?

Would I have more sever sides next week?

Hi Rita: do you mean you take your Pegasys on Friday and today is shot 10 which you forgot to administer?

In other words you forgot to take your shot today. It is not too late to take it as soon as you can. You have two days until it would be considered too late.

If you miss your dose:

• If you remember within 2 days of when you should have taken PEGASYS, give yourself an injection of PEGASYS as soon as you remember.

• Take your next dose on the day you would usually take it.

• If more than 2 days have passed, ask your healthcare provider what you should do.

I agree with lynda's comments.  You seem to be basing your decision on anticipated side effects.  I'm not sure about you, but after my friday eve shot, I usually feel good during the weekend.  Mon/Tues is often the day I feel a bit more fatigue, but this isn't always the case.  Although there does seem to be a pattern, several factors can make how you feel each day different.

I'd stay on time with the shot and not take any risks.  It's one thing to forget, but to do it intentionally with unknown consequences sounds a little risky.  Just my thoughts.  Good luck.

When I first started tx 4 weeks ago, I didn't think I had to start all three drugs on the same day -- I started on Tuesday, but wanted to have my injections on Friday -- but I called the pharmacist and asked if it made a difference... they said take the first injection on Wednesday (day after med started), the next week take on Thursday, and the following week on Friday, and thereafter, I'd be taking injections on Friday.  So I did -- just took my 4th injection earlier...

I'm having my 4 week labs done on Tuesday, and I'm hoping to be doing the happy dance by Wednesday or Thursday!

Wish me luck!

I had an reason (dont remember what) to have to take my shot a day early, which meant a day later next wk. Usually Fri. but this time Thurs. It was in my first twelve wks of triple. I asked my Dr and she was not concerned about 1 day. Ask your Doc for best advice, 4 and 12 wks und.

Thanks!  Good tips.  Sunday is often worse than Saturday, that helps explain why.  Will try the Tylenol.

The way Pegasys works shot day shouldn't be that bad. Take a few Tylenol if needed.  The drug usually starts peaking between 48-72 hrs, hence the fatigue, fever, aches & pains. Pegasys is designed so that by the 7th day the potency of the drug is greatly diminished and that is why they insist on strict adherence. This is only your 8th week, you need to stay complaint.  I wouldn't go out a extra day, if anything do it in the evening when you get home and then switch back to the AM.

Thanks for the feedback.  I know i was grasping at straws asking the question.  Just wishful thinking i guess that maybe there were some strong stats saying no problem and I should not worry.  My fear of having come this far and messing up won out.  I took my shot.   It really helps to hear it, and if you could do it, hopefully I can too!  Thanks again.

you might try asking your doctor?  but they will probably say no . they dont want you to take the chance and your family will probably understand if you dont feel good anyway...

i had a really important business thing at night about 60 miles away on the day after my shot..i considered delaying my shot because there was no way for my career that i could mis it.. i was still doing incivek and i had the worst rash .. i couldnt even get dressed.. hurt to wear socks even..
anyway i could not bring myself to miss the shot i want to be cured so bad ...this disease has messed with my life for 28 years .. i personally would not take the chance...it probably does not make that big of a difference but for me mentally i need to know i did everything i could .
so.i took a nap in the day and then i loaded myself up on advil, zofran and water.. put tons of makeup on and a baggy pair of pants with a loose long sleeve shirt got my partner to drive .. i even cryed on the way there i felt so bad .. my partner said "we dont have to do this we can go back" but i said NO ! im doin this...and i did and i pulled it off...whew!
not to tell you what to do or anything ... i know how hard this is....good luck !

Thanks for the feedback. I just can't find any information on ramifications.  I guess fear of failure is winning out over my desire for a few hours of living in the moment.
