ED drugs

What's the consensus, or lack thereof, for ed drugs, viagra, levitra or cialis? Do they harm the liver? Either while on treatment or with no treatment? Thanks

I got my treatment from the VA. The doc there said ed is not a sx, although many of his patients had asked that question of him.Hmmmmm Seeing how it is also a sx of being a male, who knows. I'd be glad if it was a sx that goes far away post tx. I'm 3 monts post and it wasn't a factor until the last 6-8 weeks of tx. Am seeing some encouraging signs of life. hope springs ......eternal

And this has what to do with HCV?

If it is not due to decreased libedo sx as revenire____ suggested, then it sounds more like this thread is for the "Liver - Other" or the "Misc." Topic Areas.

We are only patients here. Unless one has had experience with this issue, of which I am NOT one, then this sounds more like a question for a doctor or pharmacist.

I agree with some things said on this thread, every drug is processed through the liver at some point, it's a question of degree as to how hard the liver has to work to process it...perhaps Rev is right here and this is too complicated a question for laymens to comment on...

Every drug you put into your body is processed thru the liver.
All drugs are considered foreign to the body and it tries to process them out.  Most drugs, including interferon and riba, say not to take them if you have liver disease.

Why burden it more?

Did I miss it or did you get your biopsy results yet?  Have you started tx or just preparing for the worst?  You young bucks are really zeroed on the core issues! At 52 what else do you have left? LOL

ED is not necessarily a side effect of tx.  In fact, it had the opposite effect in my case.  ED may be a side of completing treatment rather than being on tx.  As to Viagra, it is metabolized in the liver and its probably not wise to use it without your docs permission and instructions.  I know that full doses of any of these meds are not recommended.  During tx, with all the other weird sides going on, adding something new to the mix may be unwise.

Good luck with your results and with your tx decision.
