My Hemo dr. said it was okay, but I have heard some here disagree. With the sx from Neupogen, you may want to wait a few days after Inf.
But I don't really have a reaction too either separately. So do you think togather would be the same?
When my doctor started me on Neupogen he told me that I had to wait at least 24 hours after the Pegasys shot. As I recall there was a reaction between chemicals that occured that would possibly take the strength from one drug or the other. Wish I could recall more but 24 hour waiting period between shots I do remember. Good luck, Dale
I don't think it matters in any way but personally - I don't do my Epo on the same night. Just because I figure my body is doing enough work processing the peg already, why stress it by injecting another medication that needs to do its own set of things inside.
I just always thought it might be smoother and more effective for them to have their own time to do their own job.
But of course, I'm crazy.
HAHAHAH YA MY FRIEND! you just sort of supported my own crazy made up logic - I feel better now instead of thinking I'm an obsessive insane freak! :)
Deb, You are a obsessive, insane freak why do ya think we love you so much? You have 12 more left right? Hey - scaled at 184 last night and its starting to scare me:) That is roughly a five-pound a week clip. I have progressed from ice cream to anything that moves or isn't totally covered in mold. Grazing with the cows - Dale
My hemotologist said not to take them on the same day. It was not because of double whammy but rather, that the interferon destroys white blood cells and the neupogen builds them up. She said it was better to take the two 48 hours apart. Some here have said their doctors say 24 hours apart is okay.
For awhile I had to take two a week and used goofydad's hemotologist's method. That was to take one 24 hours or so before the INF shot to boost up the system and take the other about 24 hours after the INF to help correct the destruction.
With Epogen (Procrit) the same theory can't work because we are taking ribavirin twice aday. Therefore, we probably do get simultanous building and destruction of RBC.
Make any sense?

Hi Ya'll. Can one of you guys tell me how low your WBC has to drop before use of Neupogen is warranted?
As usual different docs say different things around here. There is a study that on Inf. we don't have to worry about WBC and infections until our ANC goes to 300 or .3-4 My Hemo wants me to get Neup when my ANC is below 1.0 or 1000. If you have cirrhosis I have heard it is good to only go too 500 ANC. Of course I am no dr. as you know, just my experience and observations.
Yes, that makes sense. When I brought this up with my hemo dr. about the effects of building white cells with Neup and inf. destroying them he said it doesnt' work that way because they work in different ways. Of course I have forgotten the reasons and chemistry, but that is what he said.
I did both the same day but separated them by about an hour between injections.
And did you notice any differance?
I took my Eprex (procrit) anf the ifn the same day and it knocked the **** out of me (sometimes that was a good thing). I was never told to do it any other way but maybe not overloading the system would be better. Never needed to use Epo but I imagine it would stress the system as well.
