my 1st 2 times i injected in my legs one week right and the next left and they both bruised right away bad, i didn't like the way it looked and it took over a month to completely go away, so i started injecting in my stomach and i like it much better, it is easier to get to, more skin on the stomach than the leg, i am a triathlete/marathon runner and i have tone tight lean muscluar legs with no fat or skin to pull, but my stomach has some fat and skin.  Also, i get red spots and some light rash around the injection site on the stomach but not itchy and since i always go there and rotate left to right, i always have red spots.  at least it is just 2 red spots on stomach instead of 4 on stomach and legs.
all this is normal, so i read

The marks on your legs are pretty normal. I used to rotate left leg, right stomach, right leg left stomach each week. Then had to add procrit and neupogen shots. The marks used to stay on my legs for weeks, but it used to help me remember where I did the last shot as that one was always the reddest. lol . It wasn't too amusing then but now I can giggle about it. I looked like a wornout dart board.  The itching unfortunately is also a side effect, try to stay away from hot showers and baths and use benedryl for itching but not right after a shot on the injection site. lots of lotion is always good or try rubbing aloe on the spots that itch.

Your hair will not all fall out like on chemo. but it will thin. Some more than others. Thankfully I had a lot of hair so when it thinned  I just cut it shoulder length and styled it. I noticed the diference more than anyone who knew me. In total I probably lost about one third of my hair. My eyebrows and eye lashes also thinned out and any curled hair (eyelashes, pubic, ect. went stick straight.

hang in there and don't worry about rattling on, this is all new to you and you will have questions. That is what this forum is for,     so ask away.

LMAO! Arms? I don't think ANYONE would do it in their arms...

I have lotsa belly - so belly was good for me... LOL!

But yeah - the interferon does kind of spread (or it did on me) in a "blobby" kind of Rorsacht (you know those ink blot tests? LOL) way.

Thanks for the info my Dr said to rotate from stomach to legs but not to put in my arms I thought maybe hit a blood vessel or something.

I didn't do shots in the legs - but muscle there tends to bruise.

When I did my shots in the stomach, however, they turned "brownish" and yeah --- they seemed to spread a bit and lasted a LONG time.

So that's not so unusual --- itching comes along with the TX. BUT --- if you're noticing redness or swolleness and heat (or any sign of infection) get it checked - OK?

Much hugs and love to ya!

Hang in there - 800 mg Riba normal --- intron (interferon) I did Pegasys prefilled syringes - so I have no clue how much was in there. LOL --- just the whole tube --- and icky cold...

LOL!

PS. good luck on the Masters - I know what you mean --- tourism is great in some ways --- and OMG --- go away in others... LOL!
