Kim is 100% correct. HCV is only transmitted by somehow getting an infected person's blood mixed with your own. HCV via vaginal intercourse is not impossible, however there are documented cases. Although unusual, a small amount of blood can be present intermittently in male ejaculate. I would use protection until your significant other can get his HCV eradicated via treatment. Best to be safe, a simple HCV antibody blood test will reveal if you have been exposed, which is HIGHLY unlikely, but the chances do increase w/ unprotected anal intercourse, or as mentioned, during the menstrual cycle. For the sake of your serenity, get tested and use condoms until your mate has cleared the virus. mac
Hi there. I know your worried but most likely you will be fine. As dontworry as said it's rare to spread the virus sexually. I was married for 20+ years and had 2 children via natural childbirth. No one in my family has it. In fact I didn't know I had it also so we never used protection.
If the thought that you may get it is scarey, then you should get tested for piece of mind.
I wish you well
.....Kim
i've read up alot on it & i knew it was very low me n him have been on & off for 10 years and he don't really know how he was infected i think im just freaking myself out here thanks alot
Welcome to the forum. The risk is extremely low. I have had the same partner for over twenty years. They didn't get hepatitis C. It sound like you are aware of how hepatitis C is transmitted.....by blood. But the other person who has hepatitis C would have to have a open cut to infect you. Hepatitis C isn't that easy to get.
Hope this is helpful
