You might want to start a new post of your own since this thread is a couple of years old -- that way you'll get a lot more responses.
But, unfortunately, what it means is that your mom has relapsed, i.e. the virus has returned after she treated and reached undetectable. I'm very sorry! There are a lot of people on this board who relapsed and retreated and attained SVR. It is possible.
my mom has hep c and getting the run around . on 9-16-08 her IU was 939,000,000 then after her interfieron hepc was undetected below 50 3-13-09 my mom stoped the interferon in june it was too much for her (vomiting blood) she just had one 4months ago and the dr said it was undetected. this september her count is 4million?????? what does it all mean!!!!!!!!
1b geno, keeping my fingers crossed and prayers for us all.
Wooo hooo! We are all happy for you! Congrats!
I am sooooo happy to hear that !!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the fight and knock it all out. You go girl. WheWWWWW YEAHHHH !!!!!
Debbie :)
Got my 8 week vl today and it came back Undetectable-Happy Day!
Preferably you want a 2 log drop by week 4 (or UND of course). If not that, then at least a more-than-1-log drop, since fluctuations under 1 log show no significant decrease in virus.
4.8 million IU/ml = log 6.68
269000 IU/ml = log 5.43
Log drop by week 4 = 1.25 log
Depending on the sensitivity of your week 12 viral load test, let's say it is sensitive down to 5 IU/ml (log 0.7) - that would mean you need yet a log drop of 4.73, to become UND by week 12.
I myself got a 1.62 log drop by week 4. At week 12 I had dropped another 2.32 log, making a total log drop of 3.94 from the starting log of 5.08. My viral load at that point was 14 IU/ml (log 1.14), so I became UND soon thereafter, between week 13 and 15, thus classified a slow responder.
Wishing you UND by week 12!
Its a 1.23 log drop, so its looking good for UND at EVR.
I would also suggest the 8 week PCR and pretty much for the same reasons as copyman. It will be usefull info.

I was 5.2m at the start. Week 2, 1,7M, Week 4, 104,000, Week 6 410. I'll get week 8 tommorrow. I think I bracket between rapid responder and early responder. And yes, newest data indicates that the VL @ 8 weeks tells the tale. Good luck with your next test.
this is a very good drop! i would say you are or will be UNDE real soon. see if your doc will order weekly pcr's until unde or at least an 8 week. this info will be great to have later in tx. keep up the good work.
