Help Doctor! I am stuck in Italy with my biopsy results and need help!!!

Hello and thank you VERY much for this site! I have hep C, 1b for about 13 years and am a 38 year old female, these are the results of a recent biopsy I had done here in Italy:

Knodell (1981) 0/1/3/1=4/1

Score Ishak (1995)
Grading necro-infiammatorio: A:0+B:0+C:1+D:2=3
Staging architturale:1

It also says "Il compllesso dei reperti depone per epatite cronica portale in fase di attivita minima" which means phase is..... minimal activity....

I was supposed to start Bochveleprir(sp) this month but my husband had a stress breakdown
and left us (2 young children ) so I am hardly in a state to start treatment and will have to move back to the states.

Am I at stage 4? I've had this about 13 years and foolishly drank heavily until about 7 years ago plus I drank a lot as a teenager so this could be cause of scarring...?

All my levels weren't that elevated as well (it usually is a steady 150.000) and the ALTS etc are slightly elevated but I am sober and watching what I eat.... How long can I wait to get treatment?

I need to get my life back in order  before I can hopefully start a trial or do you think I can hold off a few years till Telepriver is ready for us all?

Please help as I am truly alone, scared and raising 2 kids in a foreign land....YIKES!

Thank You,
N.F.

not trying to make fun here but a Dylan tune keeps running thru my head...."oh mama can this really be the end, to be stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again."
You have good reason to be singing the blues!!

or in this case Italy:

But seriously, Italy is pretty progressive in their treatments for HCV, but the question is do you qualify for treatment?  It all depends on your insurance, whether you have dual citizenship and some other factors regarding type of Visa etc..

If you do not qualify then it may be necessary for you to relocate, i.e, try to get a job state side that has insurance, even if it does mean some upheaval to the family.

Depending on your genotype and response to treatment you will have to treat for between 24 and 72 weeks. If you caught it state side, you are most likely a type1 and that will mean the longer treatments (at least a year.)

Currently my meds for this year have exceeded 100K, that's over 100 Thousand for medications alone, that's JUST for this disease (I'm not counting meds for other conditions).  Once you do the math you know you need to be somewhere where your health care and your prescriptions are covered expenses.

Please forgive my little musical reference above, not trying to be coarse, my heart really does go out to you and your children.

Welcome to the forum. Here is what I replied a few days ago on your first post.

Grading necro-infiammatorio: A:0+B:0+C:1+D:2=3
Staging architturale:1

I would say this means

Grade of inflammation = 3
Stage of fibrosis = 1

So you are stage 1, (far from stage 4)

Being stage 1, I would say that you can afford to wait. You should regularly check up with a hepatologist to have your liver damage progression monitored.

I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through at the moment and I really hope that everything will work out the best for you and your children.

Hugs, Marcia
