There was a study done on the absorption properties of ribavirin. There was no difference in absorption on riba taken with water or a regular meal. However, when taken with foods containing fat, the absorption was around 46%. As simple as peanut butter on toast or whatever you can come up with , but do take fats with your ribavirin. Good luck with your treatment and hope the Boce kicks butt.

until u know more may i suggest healthy fats. avocado is one of the best and quite neutral in fact u could put in a smoothie as a thickener with fruit and u would never know. i ate alot of natural peanut butter. i also put olive oil in and on many foods. if u have no pre-existing cardiac issues. i agree with the ben and jerrys or brie on croissants!. wow 3rd tx ! wishing u all the best! babs824
Thank you all. I have not gotten any info on exact numbers re: how much fat w/ribo. I think I found the info on flax seed oil capsules on a website, but who knows which one!!
I like your food suggestions. I am sitting here, it's time for lunch, and I can't think of a single thing to eat. Now I can make a shopping list!
It will take some time to get into a routine. Thank goodness I have the next 4 days off for lots of self pampering.
Love to ALL
Just food is sufficient, but some whole fat, maybe yogurt, if you like ice cream, bagel w/ cream cheese, My coordinators, health care providers, just say eat what you can.
First . congrats on getting started again...and also some significance to being only the second person we have heard from on the forum to be starting Boce (other than trial participants) :)
Riba is documented to be better absorbed with fats.. excacly how much is open for interpretation and I am not sure about the flax seed oil. ..however may I ask what the recommendation is for fat content (or diet recommendations are with the boce(if you know at this point)
Good luck with Tx. and please keep us informed...
