grapefruit breaks down essentail protrins rendering them useless.Since peptides, and protease type produces, and hoemones as well are all very delicate substances, needed for continual function, and since the disruption of the digestive process can be brough about by numerous sunstance, one must weight ones need to consume grapefruit, against the need to get a delicate drug to absorb rather than bind to an acidic molecule and hence be rendered useless to the other available digestive acids which would have allowed the products to become maleable to intestinal absorption.
Stay away from a lot of iron because while it's generally good for people...the virus replicates with the help of iron so I tried to avoid it at all cost. My doctor told me not to even eat out of cast iron pans...others have disagreed with that but I was too nervous to take a chance.
There is a "Hepatitis C Cookbook" by Jeanne Heather.
I never read it. I survived on Rubiens(sp), milk, peanut butter, eggs and hot oatmeal for a good outcome. (pun intended)
i believe that eating foods that have high fat content when you pop your riba pills increases the absorption of meds-significantly!!...i ate lots of salads otherwise and yes,a great deal of ice cream...usually with my evening riba dose..
interesting observation Dr. Watson! Really...that makes sense...
I don't know if there is anything you can eat to improve tx.
It is my opinion that foods rich in calcium may help us, as the treatment can cause bone soreness. I think this maybe why so many of us crave things like icecream while doing tx. I actually ate 3 cheesecakes in 3 weeks! If there is a lot of nausea, then you eat whatever you can keep down. Good luck
