i think is not under gilead licience
Just an update on my viral load count.
Pre-treatment:
Blood test on 27/05/15 HCV RNA IU/mL = 2,233,739; Log 10 RNA IU/mL = 6.35
Blood test on 01/10/14 HCV RNA IU/mL = 3,900,190; Log 10 RNA IU/mL = 6.59
Blood test on 18/12/08 HCV RNA IU/mL = 4,800,000; Log 10 RNA IU/mL = 6.7
Treatment with 400mg Sofosbuvir and 90mg Ledipasvir sourced from Mesochem.
After 15 days of treatment:
Blood test on 08/Sept/15 HCV RNA IU/mL = 46 (not a typo); Log 10 RNA IU/mL = 1.66
Couldn’t be happier.
I know it is early days, but at least things are heading in the right direction.
With God’s grace, I hope this blood polluting virus’s days are numbered.
I will keep you apprised of my scheduled week 4 blood test results.
Looking good Alex at such an early stage of treatment. I'm just waiting for my 10 day vl test at the mo, but got my GGT back: Down from 357 to 194.
Good news Alsdad.
It is so good to have some hope after such a long wait for these meds to arrive.
I want to follow up today on what I already wrote about the efficacy of generic hepC drugs.
I said that my first choice would be the Gilead-licensed generics. My reason was because they are the most likely to be identical to the brand name, because they are manufactured and quality controlled with the identical procedures. Being identical to the brand name is the key issue, because if the generic is an accurate 100% copy of the brand name then we can 'reasonably expect' to get the same result as the brand name.
There is another way to determine if the generic is an accurate copy of the brand name and that is to have a professional chemist do the appropriate tests and comparison with the brand name. Any generic which is so tested and shows to be an accurate copy can 'reasonably be expected' to produce the same result as the brand name. The >99% pure test is a start but it is not enough. There are many different tests to be done. It is a professional job.
To be realistic about this, we are unlikely ever to get scientific %SVR rates on the generics, such as the likes of Gilead have produced. In the absence of this we still have to make our way through the minefield of sub standard and fake drugs and do our best to ensure that we obtain meds that are indeed accurate copies of the brand name drugs. Some people who have access to the testing facilites are already validating their meds this way.
In an ideal world we could all go and buy our generics and bring them back to our helpful hepC doctor who would then get them tested for us. Lamentably, doctors who are unwilling even to write a prescription for generics are hardly likely to get our drugs tested for us, but who knows. Some doctors do care about their patients, so why not ask them anyway.
Whatever the resources available to you, be careful, be safe. All the best to all who are making this journey, as I soon will be too.

Hi All,
Does anybody know of a lab out there which will do comparison testing of the generic hepC drugs, ie. of generic Sofosbuvir, Ledipasvir and Daclatasvir, with the genuine brand name drug?
If there are none that currently offer this testing to individual members of the public then there should be. With the tsunami of people who will be buying the generics there would not be any shortage of customers.
So come on all the test labs out there, I am calling on you. You have the facilities and the knowledge. You could make those tests available to us if you wanted to.
