Husband claims he only has antibodies

My husband of 21 years, says he doesn't have hepatitis C anymore but he carries the atibodies in his blood. His doctor told him he can not spread it, he is only a carrier.
Now I have tested positive for hep.C, and he feels he didn't give it to me. Help?

Transmission between husband and wife, barring any shared needles, razor blades, etc. >> direct blood to blood contact << is slim but happens maybe 2-3% of the time according to literature I've read. You should get the tests: genotype, viral load, and finally a biopsy to determine where you are at with the HCV.

Have you ever been tested before for HCV? If not, you could have been carrying it for years without any symptoms (I had none I could pinpoint).

What he tells you is probably true as when you have treated the Hep C and it has gone, you still carry the antibodies for life. Has he taken medication for the Hepatitis? You have probably had it for years without realising it.

I had Hep-C for 23 years and didn't know it from blood I rec'd when I had surgery back in 1978. I found out March 2002 I had it and have gone through the treatment and am 'undetected' at this time. My husband (of 25 years) has been tested and he does not have Hep-C.  It's my understanding from the forums here that if both parties have Hep-C, they will be the same genotype...
Do get tested and come on back with any other concerns. Lots of good people here for your support.
