Good people who know more than I do, Should I be dissapointed??

Hi Everyone: I just got my 4th week viral load test results, I'm under 43, when I spoke with the nurse practitioner, she said that wasn't a big cause for worry, as Sovaldi/Olysio have different standards than the old SOC, and while getting undetectable would have been better? Under 43 is no cause for alarm on Sovaldi/Olysio. It will be on my 8th week viral load. Does anyone have any input on this? I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to keep my head up. Many thanks!

My hepatologist explained to me that under 43 is practically undetected, that the old markers they used to use would have had me undetected, and that's it's nothing to worry about with this treatment. Am having my 8 week viral load this Monday and I hope to get good news! But it's really after the treatment like everyone says. Thanks to all!!!

Yes I would repeat the labs
You shouldn't break thru or have treatment failure, only shown to have 7% relapse after completed treatment
From cosmos study

Here is hoping it was a lab error

Hello
Yes, im in europe
I am the first one for my hepatologust with this treatment, so he wanted scan more frequently, which was unnecessary as i know now

From 4 weeks i was undetectable
End week 8 result undetectable
End week 10 result - detected, very low but detected with 12 ui/ml test
Very confused and dissappointed. Maybe the test is wrong
12 weeks finished yesterday.  Will make new test (retest) on this friday

I am not sure I understand you correctly
I too finished Sovaldi and olysio 12 weeks in nyc( and testing was 2/4/8/12 labs) yesterday I did my 4 week after treatment labs, which I don't have results yet,

I am confused by the number of labs you had during treatment, are you out of the US, for that protocol?

I would repeat those labs, did they say " undetected" or " detected"?

Because no one in the cosmos trial did not clear in treatment

Where as 7% relapsed after medication/ treatment was stopped

Re tests my suggestion

Hello,
I started with sovaldi /olysio 12 weeks ago. Today took last pills.
After 4 weeks i had undetectable load with very sensitive pcr 12 ui/ml

I made blood test almost ecery week, and it remained underectable at 5.7.8.9 weeks test as well
Today i received 10 weeks rssukt, and there is now minimal virus load detected with pcr 12ui/ml

Can this be maltesting? Or does that mean its back within the therapy?
I am now really down and worrying a lot.
Does anyone has same experience?

Thank you for assuring me.  I have one more day of Sovaldi/Olysio off-label combo and I, too, was still detectable after 4 weeks with 17 when 15 or under was considered undetectable.  Initially, I was concerned that I might have that drug-resistant variant like Q80K and I hope I don't.  6 weeks lab work showed non detection and I hope to get SVR post treatment.

"Under 43 is no cause for alarm on Sovaldi/Olysio."
Makes no difference.

Being undetectable by week 4 with this treatment has no correlation to SVR rates. Only 57% of patients are undetectable at week 4. But 93% attain SVR.

http://www.jnj.com/news/all/Final-Data-from-the-Phase-2-COSMOS-Study-of-Janssens-Once-Daily-Simeprevir-in-Combination-with-Sofosbuvir-Presented-at-The-International-Liver-Congress-2014-of-the-European-Association-for-the-Study-of-the-Liver-EASL

"Rapid virologic response (RVR, defined as undetectable HCV RNA at Week 4 of treatment) was not found to be predictive of achieving SVR. In patients receiving simeprevir and sofosbuvir alone for 12 weeks, 93 percent achieved SVR, while 57 percent achieved RVR."

Good luck with your treatment.

thanks so much Candyce! I really appreciate that. How are you feeling, I remember you saying that you have been feeling better and better since quitting tx. Sure hope so! I'm having sides but I'm a strange case in that I'm a bone marrow transplant, etc. I'm glad for most people it's not that bad, at all. I find my worst sides happen an hour after I take the combo, than abate in about 4 hours. Thanks soooo much for your input!

I heard the same thing, on this combo supposedly it does not matter when you go undetected

In the cosmos trial
All participants (I think) cleared during treatment

The problem lies in after
Relapse
There is like a 5-7% relapse rate

Which hopefully you or I or anyone won't be :-)

I finished S/O : 3 weeks ago
