Other problems caused by hep c?

Havent been posting in a while.Alot going on with Wedding plans and a new grandbaby coming in Oct(not the same daughter)
A few weeks ago I had a visit to the ER with chest pains.Gave me meds and did a chest xray and sent me home. The following morning got a call from the diagnostic dept saying that they had found a nodule in my left lung.Had a CT scan and it shows a 2cm mass.Having a biopsy and pet scan next week. The dr said he was glad that I told him of my hep c diagnosis. He also said that this nodule has a smooth border and does not have the characteristics of cancer but cant be sure till the other tests.
Now Im reading that hep can attack any organ in your body and cause nodules or masses in your lungs.Im hoping that this is what it is as I am now  very scared to say the least. The mass is right next to my heart which is causing pain.
My question is now has anybody experienced anything like this-having a problem with a lung and it was caused from the hep c?
I have also read that RA can cause nodules and also an active case of TB(I tested positive years ago and was latent) can cause these things if it has become active.
This nodule was not there in July of last year   cindy

Hoping all are well those txing and those who are contemplating tx

Hi there! You have responded to an old post.  I hope you don't mind me letting you know.
If you could go to the top of the page and click on  red square, ask a question you would get more responses.

I am sorry your doctor was so rude.  I think you need a new doctor.  Again, really sorry

I had a chest xray a couple months post tx because of a severe cold, they thought it might be pneumonia. They found what looked like a nodule (spot) on my left lung. So they ordered another xray, and scared hell out of me for a week or so. The second time they put little band aids on my nipples with tiny lead pieces in them. Turned out my nodule was a shadow of my nipple. Can you believe that!! Turned out to be nothing at all.

Pooh5581-Yes you would think that the radiologist and dr would have seen this on the x ray and ct but another story is I had a chest xray in January of my lungs(I have one every year for the latent tb) and my regular pcp said lungs look good and didnt see a 2 cm mass!!!Thats almost an inch big!!! My muscles are sore in my back and just feel ill.....Was wanting to start tx asap now but this is how my luck goes I guess.
Was hoping some more would chime in with similar things going on.I posted in the Lung forum and it was forever before anybody even answered me.You guys are the bomb   cindy

Friole-thx for the articles

I don't have any knowledge or experience regarding Hep C and nodules in other organs or lung problems, but I am glad you are following up on this quickly and wishing you the best.

ALthough I have heard of inflammation in the lungs, I was not aware that hep C could cause a nodule.  These are some old articles.  The first references cryoglobulin (not sure I sp that right) and the other discussses COPD

I too have autoimmune issues that may have been caused by hep c
1) RA
2) hypothyroid ( probably familial)
3) benign liver nodule
4) calcified granulomas: breast,+ lungs
5) sjogerns symptoms eye and mouth

Also could be not sure from?
5) Epstein Barr
6) high antibodys parovirus b19
7) antibodys toxoplasmosis
8) antibodys cleared hep B
9) shattered silicone reast implants

Or i wonder if the combo of my hep c and my phenotype predispose  ,I am TT
What are you?

I have been so sick lately from too much vitamin d, fatigue could not even get out of bed

I hope all your tests come back ok!

Bumping this back to the top-I dont want it to get buried as I am still wanting to see if anybody else has had any experience with this sort of thing.Dr did say with cancer that the borders are usually not smooth and that was a good sign.

I just had a cat scan yesterday for a kidney lesion.  I, too, read that hep C can attack various organs.  I am waiting to hear test results and am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't anything of a critical nature.  I had posted a similar question to yours and one responder (domusic) said that he also had a lesion that ended up being "they called it an adrenal incidentaloma and benign."  I do wish you the best of luck with this.

I have not had any problem with nodules or lubgs from Hep C so my experience is nil on that.

However, you had a CAT scan and an X-Ray of the lungs. If you had active TB they would have seen it on both of those tests.

Did you tell your doctor you had tested positive for TB years ago? Generally latent TB becomes latent (instead of active) because the TB organizm is encapsulated by the body defense system. Those encapsolated spots can be seen on X-Ray. I think a good radiologist would be able to differentiate between an encapsulated TB and a nodule due to other causes, but the MD needs to know your full history.
