12 Week PCR, Round 2

I knew this would be a pretty big week for me.

On Monday, March 3, I had my labs drawn for my 12 week PCR. My PCR came back today ... I was not undetectable. In order for me to have my 2 log drop I needed to be at 2,600.... well .... quite frankly, I could not have been closer to being undie ... the PCR that I have done is a called a TMA and it measures the virus up to 50. I was at

109!!!!! I’m happy... I’m statisfied and I bet ya that after I did yesterday’s shot I did in fact become undie.

I am truly thankful that on March 4, 2008 I was smoke free for 1 year. I never, ever thought I would see the day that I would not have a cigarette hanging out of my mouth... thank you to my inner strength and my higher power. I plan on taking care of my smoke free lungs for a very long time.

So yes, I have a lot to be thankful for.

Hey Lauri,

I'm doing pretty good for a hepper on treatment.  Things are just starting to get hard for me.  The achies have definately arrived as has the nausea.  Nothing I didn't expect and nothing that I can't handle.

I was indeed a recent quitter at the campout and that was actually the first time since quitting I had been that close to several smokers.  I did just fine and had no desire to light one up.  I quit with the help of Chantix.  I think it's an absolute miracle drug.  I was smoke free within 3 weeks of taking it.

Hey good idea about hanging undies in the tree.  I'm going to a heppers gathering in Sacramento in May and just may hoist the undie.  Kim from Florida's Panhandle and Kat from San Diego who you met are going to be at the Sacramento gathering too.

Here's hoping your on the road to recovering from tx!

My mom had smoked her whole life and I brought her to a really good hypnotist and she quit that same day and had never touched one since - 10 years ago.
You may want to give that a go.

Oh I haven't even read the replies yet..... wonderful !! We need to hang 'undies' in the tree's instead of bra's. LOL!!
You needed that! (physically and mentally!) I haven't been online much in several days, glad to see this!
How are you hanging so far?
I did not realize at the camp out that you were a recent 'quitter', tho we probably talked about it while us smokers were on the 'smokers' side of the fire :} but that great and I soooooooooooo  hope to be a 'quitter' soon. Like you said, can't imagine not having one in my hand :(  That was a HUGE accomplishment and congratulations on your one year 'anniversary' also!
Keep up the good work girl.

Congratulations on those great results, Mouse!!  I'm very happy to read that things are going well for you.  Happy Anniversary as well ... good to see that you are smoke free as well.  Wishing many better days ahead for you, Mouse and rooting for you all the way through 72. :)

Way to Go! What major accomplishments....you've got to feel good about yourself. I only smoked with friends..so a social smoker but found that it rolled over into stressful times as well...After some time I actually found myself wanting to pick a fight with hubby so I could smoke...wow that was the limit...those things are way to addictive for my personality. I finally totally quit almost a year ago myself and will never touch one again!

Hey NY...

I'm definately doing 72 weeks this time.  That was decided before I even started because of being a relapser on 48 week.  Doc Nelson at Shands/University of Florida pretty much said I don't have much of a choice given that I have stage 3, grade 3-4 damage.  I have to go after the beast aggressively.

Charm,  Congrats on being smoke free.  It truly is a liberating feeling.

Thanks to all for the "at a girls".

That's great that you almost made it to UND!

Are you going to continue PCRs and find out when you do and then consider doing the extension to 72?  Since you aren't UND its something to really think seriously about.  By the old standards of testing I too would have "appeared" to be UND  too...thank God they do have much better testing these days so we can know the truth of where we stand. Look how crucial it really is!
