Help for Neuropathy

Hi Group,
I have been reading the posts for awhile and you seem to give good advice. I am 1a, stage 2, VL was1.5 million, currently doing pegasys & copegus and I am week 28. I was undetectable at 12 weeks and have (thankfully!) had minimal sides.

I have a friend who is going through chemo for cancer and she has developed neuropathy. Unfortunately, she is having a very tough time with her treatment and now she is having trouble walking (this is a lady who climbed Mt Whitney!) Does anyone have any experience with treatment induced neuropathy? I know that she is not on the same type of chemo that we take for hep c, but many of her sides are the same types of things that we experience with treatment. I would like to know about things that can be done to help ease her symptoms. Thanks so much, Kathy

Said: I've always had a phobia about needles ever since I can remember.

I just wanted to say isn't that NUTS that here we all sit with a disease considered to be a "druggie" disease LOL.  I mean so many of us had to take lessons on how to use the needles!

(Of course I certainly did my share of drugs but wasn't able to put a needle into myself...I do NOT want to appear to be a hypocrit here acting like I never did them since that probably IS why I have this disease anyway).

It just struck me SO ironic as I was sitting in the doc office with the Nurse Practitioner and I looked at my mom (she came to learn with me in case I chickened out) and said wow now Alanis Morrisette should have put THIS into her song "sitting here waiting to learn how to use a syringe with an IV drug disease"...

Hey maybe I'll write my own tune and make some $$$$$ for us to have a meet and greet hahaah.

Jam and go - that's the way...I think to much about it I get all freaked out and can't get that needle into me no matter what!

ksk; it is so thoughtful of you to look out for your friend, at the time you are dealing with your own battle. I hope you find some answers. In some of the readings I have done, the b vitamins complex has an intricate  role in the nervous system. If your diet is suffering and you are having intestinal problems, there might not be enough absorbed by the body. Plus some intestinal conditions will deplete the flora that produces this vitamin in  your body. SHe might benefit from yogurt cultures and a b-complex supplement. See if a web search for vit b and nervous system produces any results.

INA!! where are you?? did you not have a PCR not too long ago? I am waiting impatiently!

I am sorry I don't know anything about treatment induced neuropathy.

With something this dreadfully severe...I am wondering what her doc had to say about it.  You know if you read all my blatherings that I am a pro treatment person - but if she is having that much trouble...what is her bx result?

My God I so sorry - what a great friend you are. Bless you - and she is VERY blessed to have you.
