dont know but hemoroids and anal itching/burning are listed as one of the side effects from incivek... thats just great.... i already have hemoroids lol... starting TX in Sept i hope they dont get worse... but, i can deal with the roids if the hep goes away
whats from the incivek? Hemmers are from blood pooling in the hemorrhoidal tissue and swelling the tissue which is loaded with nerve endings. The blood is usually from straining or when you have a BM to soften the area. IF you strain or sit on the toilet gravity pools the blood. It is like arterial blood it has no valves so it just pools.
How does the incivek cause the hemers?
Try yogurt and moist wipes are great although I haven't had that problem, but it may be because when I feel it coming on that is what I do.
Feel better
I'm so glad its not just me, sorry. It's not that I'm constipated fiber bars and drinks wont work. It's from the incivek!
use a stool softener, although with drinking lots of water you may not need it. If you are eating more fiber than you are used to, especially make sure you drink lots of water
Drink 8 glasses of water at least a day 1 every hour, eat apples, metamucil, drink lots of water DO NOT strain when on the toilet, do not sit at the toilet for any length of time, if you dont have to go, get up, you will go...... drink lots of water. Hot baths good for circulation, walking, swimming good for circulation you need to get the circulation going to get that blood moving back up. It usually takes 10 days for the body to reabsorb the blood, unless you get blood clots. ( like I did ) eat and chew your food slowly. and good luck
I've had the "fire-rhea" too. It's horrible. I thought I was having all of this pain because I was so excited about being able to eat nut-mixes that I kind of over did it right before I started triple therapy. A day or so after I started my treatment I was stricken with the most awful, painful BMs I have EVER had. And paleish yellow at that! I figured it was because I had eaten all those peanuts, pumpkin seeds, almonds, cashews, etc - and that it was my own fault. Little did I know this was part of the tx side effects. I just kept blaming myself and crying on the pottie! I used to eat jalapenos like crazy and this was way, way worse than that burn. SO, friends in hepatitis C-dom, get some Balneol lotion, Prep H, Beaudreaux's Butt Paste, Vaseline, Anbesol....just get something because you are most likely going to need it. I pray that you do NOT have this dreaded side effect! Liz
be sure to drink as much water as possible. add some fiber/fruits to diet. dry prunes are good as are raspberries. they are great frozen in a smoothie made with yogurt. do not take supplements however unless doc says ok. sitz bath can help too. good luck, babs
I posted about anal bleeding since I was suffering from that and "fire in the hole" as some else referred to it. It started on Day 2. Tucks, prep H, baby wipes, balneol lotion and today I got hydrocortisone suppositories. Someone else suggested a "Mr. Bidet" which I guess permits you to wash away rather than wipe. This sounds pretty good to me.
Of course today is the first day I can go without tears. The pain was so great on occasion that I felt like I couldn't stand up and when I did I would get light-headed.
Good luck!
Someone posted on anal bleeding and lots of good advice is there. It's been in the last week. Yeah. I think a lot of us have that symptom early. Yuck. BUT.... it's only the duration of the protease inhibitor. :)
