Hep C and Oral Sex

Hi! I'm a male and I have received unprotected oral sex from a female sex worker. 16 days after this exposure, I had some blood work done, including liver enzymes. My ALT level was the only liver enzyme that was mild elevated, 44 u/l, and the upper normal limit used by the lab is 41 u/l.  I was also tested for Hep B and C at the same opportunity, and both were negative. I know 16 days is too early, but at least we can rule them out as a probable cause acting before the exposure. Since the exposure, I have been freaking out about HIV, Hepatitis B and C. I didn't even know Hep B could be transmitted through saliva before the exposure. I have headaches everyday, abdominal discomfort in the upper quadrant, night sweats, sore throat.

Do you guys know of anyone who got hepatitis B or C from insertive unprotected oral sex?

These links can give you some information about both Hep B and Hep C. It would probably be beneficial for you to read the entire two articles because they are quite educational and informative concerning Hep B and Hep C. This excerpt (from one of the articles) states your actions are a risk for Hep B:

" Risk factors for hepatitis B that you can control include:"
*Being sexually active, including having unprotected sex with someone who is infected with the virus or whose sexual history is unknown to you.
*Having more than one sex partner. (Your risk for HBV infection is higher if you have another sexually transmitted disease such as chlamydia.)"

I don't personally know anyone who contracted Hep B or Hep C from oral sex, but my guess is that plenty of people did get Hep B from oral sex. Hep B is a sexually transmitted disease.

Hep C is not a sexually transmitted disease. It is a blood to blood disease, so getting hep C from oral sex would be very rare, if at all.
